Question on Spell Penetration in PVP

Let say i have 5000 spell pen and a player has 20,000 spell resistance. Does that mean i bring their spell resistance down to 15,000? If not then how is it calculated? Thanks

You are on the right track with your assumption. Most people sit around 20k resistances in pvp with the major buff to their resistances. If you have a base penetration, you can just subtract that value from their resistance. Same goes for major breach and stuff, it lowers the amount of the enemies resistance by that specific amount.
