Getting Master Writs... help

shauny.gibbsb16_ESO
So I know RNG is always a huge part to getting these but I've never got one, I've learnt loads of finished styles and have 50 in all crafts, I remember reading you need to craft top tier armour and weapons to have a chance for getting them and then realised I've been only crafting cp150 and not cp160, does this make a difference?

Cheers in advance for any replies.

No, CP 150 and 160 are the same tier. Tiers are divided by materials/skill rank, not levels.

Research and motif/recipe knowledge, complete purple or higher, effect your rng chances.

As long as you are regularly doing the level 50 daily writs, you should be getting some master writs, unless your RNG truly sucks.

cheers for the answers, guess I'm just very unlucky, but at least I know I'm doing it right.

I think it's really not important. My main crafter that knows all motifs and a lot of recipes/blueprints etc gets on average the same amount (and voucher amount) as the crafter that 'just' has all skills on 50. It's might amount to a 10% difference in chance to get a master writ.

Rng is a weird thing, i get more master writs on my secondary crafter then on my main crafter who knows all motifs except one with all traits researched, also the highest master writs i have gotten so far were on my secondary crafter.

They kinda come in waves. You won’t get any for a while, then lots come through.

On equipment, your odds go up based on motif knowledge and trait research. It’s pretty considerable...some dedicated crafters have tracked thousands of writs, and it’s like five times as likely with a knowledgeable character.

I have gone a week with nothing on my max crafter 9 traits all motifs. I average 1 every other day but rng can be horrible.

I have gotten a 98 writ voucher and a 70 write voucher though from clothier and woodworker in one day so it just one of those things.

And RNG is why many of us do the top-tier writs on multiple characters. I only have 6, so I'm not getting as many as those that have 15 doing them. Even with 6, I can go a couple days without seeing a single MW drop. If only doing them on one character, you're not going to see them that often.

Does this mean all one needs to do is get skill line to 50? There is no need to put any points in the skill line? Or must one max, for example, tailoring all the way to 10 to get a master writ drop?

Master Writ drop rate is feast or famine it seems. I'll go a couple days without getting any. Then I'll get 3 in one day, and then a 100+ one the next. Then nothing for a day a or two.

You must be doing max level crafting writs to have a chance for master writs. So yes to 10 in the passive too.
