The eidetic memory is not available before you completed the entire mage questline, so that doesn't exactly help. Meaning you are forced to stand there, getting interrupted constantly if you actually want to read these notes. But even WITH the eidetic memory it's not exactly easy to find the correct note or book in the library that match said note/book, and in the end it's less trouble to simply stand in the spawn point getting interrupted.
Reading books and notes in dungeons used to be a favourite passtime in previous elder scrolls games. But then I took a delve boss to the knee. 4 times.

On PC the Lore Books add-on allows you to enable the Eidetic Memory before you even begin the MG quest line. Just grab it and read it later.

Cool. But unfortunately the notes and books tied to the delves are, at least to me, not really very relevant after exiting the delve. It's a part of the story and atmosphere of that delve, so it adds to the experience when you're down there. Afterwards it's a different experience, it's more like an actual memory "oh yeah I remember that delve it was so great, haha, and then the khajit thief thought he'd won, but then really he was screwed. heh.". Which of course also has some value.
