I can't believe some people actually dont like the best improvement to ever grace ESO (one tamriel) and want the game destroyed by somehow rolling it back.
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

We need something to shoot for. Every other mmo releases higher gear sets....I mean, we are cp 720 now and our gear is for cr 160. I understand the need to keep every level feeling the same, but in MMOs there does need to be a sense of separation. We grind for a reason, ya know? Part of the fun is leveling to acquire the next set of top gear until the next DLC in other games, yet we top off rather quickly here. I would love to gain level 720 beastly gear in new content, it would just be nice. I am probably alone in feeling this way but to me the game is quite stale and Intake frequent, lengthy breaks and am still on par with everyone else having not played much at all. Any plans to increase cp level for gear?
Youre not alone however the player base is very divided on the issues between those who like to feel a sense of progression and those who want to wear the same items for 20 years because...well i really dont know why. They say its the grind but it is so easy to acquire gear in this game. I mean you can acquire gear to do all content in this game shopping at guild traders. So i dont understand this grind thing.
@heartburnkid @Anotherone773 I get the distinct impression that neither of you had to grind out many sets pre-transmute and certainly not pre-tradeable-among-group-members.

I further get the impression you haven't shelled out the resources to gold out many of those, either.

Higher level on a piece of gear doesn't give value to any content. New, different, and useful sets are a different story.

Those are the things you should be inspired to grind for, not the little number in the upper corner.

And as has been mentioned, values don't change. They either crank up the enemies to compensate, crank down CP passive bonuses, or scale back your current gear so that the 'new top tier' gear ends up with the same set bonuses your current top tier gear has.

Sure, it's progression...of the artificial variety.

Analogy: We have doubled the speed limit to 120 mph. We have also relocated your workplace 3x further away.

*Insert Mule with Carrot on stick meme here*

Even if it did work the way you think, you're not considering the train wreck of balance it would create, making even more content faceroll worthy if you had the gear or damn near impossible if you did not.

(I am a much bigger fan of content dropping sets that would ultimate help you deal with said content, mechanics and such. That is intelligent design. Simply tuning things up or down is not.)

Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

A better idea would be to remove all gear levels. It would allow new players to immediately pursue their sets of choice, allow existing players to equip new characters with gear they already have, free up skill points spent in crafting, free up inventory space for those without ESO+.

If a level 10 is wearing level 10 gear, scaling makes it so it's as if she's a CP160 wearing CP160 gear. 160 is the baseline, and you're only scaled DOWN if you're wearing gear below you're level. That only happens to new players, or existing players on new characters. As such, there's no longer any reason to have gear levels at all.

Well, leveling crafting (and all those tiers of crafting materials) would get a bit odd without gear levels. They'd have to revamp the entire system into something new.

(and all those cooking recipes.... yeesh)
