Why do you use repair kits?

hellothere
I’ve seen that in vendors you can easily repair your armor but there’s also a 400 gold kit that repairs 1 item, and I see people using them, why?

"Why do you use repair kits"
    To repair your gear....
Crown rep kits repair all of your gear not just 1 item like normal rep kits.
Still crown rep kits, just like crown soul gems, crown poisons potions, food ect are all a blatant scam intended to hook in noob players into buying things for irl cash that have no value.

If you do your daily writs, you will windup with a boatload of repair kits. I never buy them.

You don’t usually buy repair kits from npc vendors, they drop from doing crafting writs for free.
You use repair kits when you’re in trial or some situations when you can’t port out to repair your broken armour.
Or just simply cheaper to use the kits.

Don't buy your repair kits from vendors. Buy them from guild stores. They cost almost nothing.

You also get mountains of them for doing writs if you're a crafter.

You use repair kits because they're cheaper than using the vendor repair option and because there are add-ons that automatically repair your gear when it breaks by using a repair kit.

As other say, have an stack for dungeons / trials. If an wipefeast they are needed.
If you do lots of crafting writs then tend to pile up so you can use them in town to save gold.
Also if you grind it will wear down your armor even if you don't die.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

I haven't bought repair kits since I was in beta. Rest I get is from crafting dailies and believe me when I say I get a lot that way.

I get bulk kits from crafting writs, so it's cheaper than repairing at a merchant.

This. I use them because I end up with a pile of them on each of my characters.

    Um for obvious reasons OP.

Doing writs on numerous chars every day gives you tons of repair kits that is useful in situations when you cannot repair with gold or otherwise, even though the repair never goes above 2k.

I use them when away from town, but gold is easy enough at this point, that I pay for repair in town instead of kits, when town is available. I just don't need to buy kits, for the same reason as above poster...even if you do writs on a handful of characters & don't do them every day, you still get quite a few, for stockpiling...

I don't use them way too expensive its easier to just use gold.

Plus they take up much needed bag space...

Nobody that knows any better will ever buy repair kits from a merchant. People use repair kits they get via writs or other sources.

If you buy repair kits from vendors, you are paying far, far more for repairs than you would at an NPC merchant.

If you buy them from guild stores (on PC NA you can find them as low as 50 gold, though around 60 is more common last time I bought any), it's considerably cheaper to use the kits as opposed to having a merchant repair your gear.

And as has been mentioned, doing your daily crafting writs will provide you with a steady supply of repair kits as well.

If you have em and a Tythis, you can save time teleporting away to and back to a tough dungeon run where your team has been wiped and pwned as much as a tiger in a washing machine.

Doing daily crafting writs has rewarded me with a large sum of kits where I've never felt the need to stock up on em with gold.

Usually because I'm running a dungeon/Trial and the group is having trouble completing it. I went through a lot of Repair Kits during my eight hour vet Bloodroot Forge PuG run for example. In those scenarios going back to town to repair your gear is unfeasible. Plus they drop regularly from Writs so I usually have some on hand.

I got lucky yesterday and actually finished vet Bloodroot Forge with a pug. It was most of our first time on vet, but we finished it in an hour and a half with probably 8-12 deaths. Was the first time I ever needed a repair kit in a dungeon, but now I understand why some people carry them.

Can get them for 40-50g ea from the guild kiosks. That makes them cheaper than repairing at a merchant. That is why.

I used to in vMA till i realized the Ripoffortis NPC trick.
Rarely ever use then otherwise. NPC vendors aplenty.

Probably the same reason people use pots, wear gear, use food and so on. Because they can and because it's somewhat helpful. I let my gear degrade until the repair costs are in the region of 1200g, then use my repair kits. Meh, why not.

Legit only ever use em in cradle of shadows. When you’re running with a PUG and Velidreth is a learning curve for people who haven’t ran it before. Usually handing them out like a man with a candy van.

I get repair kits free from doing crafting writs and use them because it's cheaper than selling them and paying a merchant for repairs. Plus I tend to forget to repair when I'm in town. I've never bought repair kits and probably never will.
