Magicka DK PVP gear advice

Hello,

I'm just gearing up a mag DK for PVP, I know a lot of people don't rate them for PVP but i think they match my playstyle very well.

I am just thinking about getting sets ready, most guides say Burning Spell Weave which I may farm out if I need too. I have a full set of golded out Spinners gear, is this decent for a MagDK in PVP?

And what would be best to pair it with, Shacklebreaker, Julianos or maybe even Innate Axiom as most of MagDK skills seems to be class based?

I'll be running a heavy build with a S&B front bar and possible resto staff on back bar.

If you do go to PvP pair a damage set with a sustain set since you need > 1.5K magicka recovery in order to buff, heal, and out-regen the draining poisons out there. I've been looking at a number of those, but can't settle on one, but I don't really have to since my Magicka DK is not nearly ready for PvP yet. A few combinations I've been considering:

Silks of the Sun
Caluurion's Legacy
Spinner's Garments
Law of Julianos
Sload's Semblance

Sustain & defensive sets (5p):
Armor of the Seducer
Shroud of the Lich
Vestments of the Warlock

Alteration Mastery

Impregnable Armor

Monster sets (2p):
Valkyn Skoria
Grothdarr
Zaan

I think Desert rose+ axiom is bis for me. I use 5light. skoria or BS monster set. 1h&s and ice staff backbar

I run axiom plus bloodthorn. The stam return from thorn is too good to pass up for me.

Honestly I don't think its needed if you are going heavy, maybe in light though. DK stam sustain is already super high, and next patch another 200~ if you run a poison.

I currently run skoria, innate axiom body, riposte jewels and back bar 1hs, willpower front bar swords. Next patch will swap to front bar willpower ice staff.

I run Skoria, Innate, and Sun. The extra health helps out with my light armor build. SnB front bar, Destro back bar. 5/1/1 setup.

If u've just began playing mag dk, then dont go for proc sets like BSW..go for something simple and effective like blood spawn, silk of the sun, wizards riposte! Dual wield front bar, resto staff back bar! 5light, 1 heavy, 1 medium, all impen!

Heavy Impregnable 5 to 6 sturdy with 1h and shield is bae.

5/1/1 heavy axiom, clever alch (backbar) and valkyn. Willpower 2h front bar, 3x infused potion glyphs. (or 2 infused 1 arcane/triune) 3x tri glyphs.

If I recall, the new dk passive has 2 timers, one for mag, one for Stam. So slot 2x dot poisons back bar to proc the poisoned affect and valkyn faster.

Lingering speed/Stam speed immo, and heal mag immo pots.

High damage, almost infinite Stam sustain, 50% immovability, maj expedition, damage good (ca+2h willpower makes up for and losses) high healing with embers, whip cauterize, (possible Lingering too) and forward momentum.

Mag regen is good between battle, combustion, mag potions, and not spamming dragons blood and mist.

Argonian gets an extra 400 mag and Stam regen from this build so will be overpowered as all hell.

You can also sacrifice vamp for better health regen (even more healing if you run clockwork food) since the flat regen values are kind of low, it's more the passive regens this build uses, and undeath can be swapped for more survivability vs fire and dawns.

Forget the guides. Magdk hits hard in cp PvP. Run 5light 1 heavy 1 med. Dark Elf. Burn those peasants alive. As for sets, Experiment. If you wait to be spoon fed you’ll remain a potato.

Actually I find this thread very helpful, I just wanted use the picture.

I really want to use Jorvuld, but haven't had much success with it on mdk. Caluurion is always a solid choice, Zaan seems like an easy call. I wish I had a lot more resto staves

To be honest, you don´t have to invent the wheel every time you try something new. I find it much better to go out and do some research first on what other people use, watch some Youtube videos etc, and then decide if that might be something for you. There is nothing wrong with copy-paste a build. It will at least give you some sort of experience with the class/build. And who knows, you might find a build that works perfectly for you, but even if you don´t, you´ve still played the class and earned some experience with it, which is a good start to become less of a potato

I find it much better to go out and do some research first on what other people use, watch some Youtube videos etc, and then decide if that might be something for you. Copy paste build? All that stuffs old. Granted you shouldn’t HAVE to reinvent the wheel. I suppose your method is better than using the skill advisor.

In the end you have to get out there and actually fight. Die. Try a new build. Though, you actually need a jumping off place, like what you said. Research. I agree with you.

Currently running 2 heavy 5 light. Probably going full heavy next patch if the rumors are true...or change out destro for restro.

I'm torn between Lich or Shackle as my second set (until Summerset)

Probably shackle the more I think about it. A lot of BG battles don't last long enough to get the full benefits from lich last I checked.

Any opinions on lich vs shackle?

both kinda need percent amps. I'd say it's entirely gear/race dependent.
