Weird FPS issues

My FPS goes between 90 and below 20 FPS on a daily basis with no apparent contributing factors, aside from maybe time of day. Some hours I get 90+ FPS some hours the game is almost unplayable due to super low FPS. my machine is an alienware Auroura gaming machine more than powerful enough to run the game at high FPS on high settings. In one day I'll have hours of 90 FPS and hours of sub 20. WTF.
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

shadows are often a pain in the butt and since the game has time of day differences, maybe those? try turning them down.

    Adjusting shadows made no difference

Try to turn shadows off, Max particle systems = 768, Particle Suppression Distance 35 and view distance 50 or lower. Make sure you have turned AA off and have V-sync on with the triple-buffering from nvidia control panel (works for me better). Also may we know what are your specs?

Tried adjusting my settings, but I reiterate, this was not a problem nor is a problem all the time on the highest settings. the FPS drops do not appear to be related to my settings at all. just random drops.

90 FPS half the time with the same settings remember.

You probably have tried this..but I was having the exact same issue on my Nvidia 1080 Ti until I updated the drivers it seems they did a revision from the last update because of Direct X issues.

    Hope his helps

This should be solved when multicore support arrives with the summerset base patch I think a lot of people have said that the game is a lot smoother with the summerset patch.
Ah, e-communities - the "pinnacle" of the internet............yeah, right.

I have an i5 intel processor which is almost certainly multi core, so that may be the issue.

I've been having similar issues lately as well. One similarity is that mine is an alienware as well, I have a laptop 15 R3. with 32gb ram and a 7th gen i7. I tried updating my gpu drivers as well, but that led me down a path of also updating a number of other drivers from the dell site that I noticed needed updating. The only thing I got for my efforts was loss of a Windows 10 function called Data Usage Overview, but no relief for the fps issue.

One thing that was suggested to me was overheating. That is a possibility, although I was not having the same issue before, using the same hardware. It does get hot, being a laptop, but it's not getting any hotter than it did before. Another thing, related to the temp was whether I was using e'net or wifi, and the common perception that e'net is a more stable or reliable connection than wifi. Apparently, depending on the hardware, and signal, it is possible for a person to experience the reverse with things packed in so tightly in a laptop. I have been playing in two different environments, one a 30mbps connection from Spectrum, where I had been using e'net for its convenience, and perception of reliability. The other environment is a 200mbps connection from Comcast Xfinity, and I use wifi out of necessity. I was in that environment recently and will be returning to it soon. I did actually notice a slight decrease in the fps problem although again, it didn't disappear.

In the past couple weeks or so, since I've been trying to figure it out, the issue has become less severe even in the 30mbps environment, but it's not gone. I did switch from e'net to wifi here, and it didn't make anything worse. From the beginning I suspected one or more addons, but even with all of them disabled, I still had the issue. I'm hoping the multi-core support will help me as well.

that's good to hear, because the one time I went over with my i7 which is a quad core, it was like one of those old style penny arcade picture flip books, and unplayable. I haven't bothered with the latest patch, as I've been occupied with other things on the live game...we shall see...
