Vamp help/can't feed due to blade of woe?

I recently had a character turned into a vampire.

I'm trying to feed on an NPC to raise(lower?) my vamp level for survivability and I can't.

The synergy (Y+B) prompt that pops up is to murder them with the blade of woe.

Is there some way to fix this?

You are right, this is a bit annoying. But you will find out, that the distance you can use feeding or the blade of woe is different. If you see the blade of woe synergy, take some steps back. At one point the synergy will change to the feeding one, since it has a bigger distance in which you can use it.

you can also try the addon called Vampire's Woe

which will aupress either the vampire bite or the blade of woe synergy

The above explained the different distances - but also Bloody Mara, the drink. Take 1 per lvl you need lowered, then replace with you usual buff food/drink. Problem solved.

Oh you're on Xbox. Yeah then buy/get some bloody Mara drinks, or get the recipe and make them. Pop one drink per level you need lowering.
REMEMBER to re-take your usual food/drink after though :-)
