What makes you grind or farm?

Sometimes I feel like the grinding or farming is sometimes pointless. But anyway I still go ahead and grind for what I want and want I need. So all in all what makes you do the do?

    I don’t farm or grind.

I play for fun and enjoyment. I quest and do the story lines.

A video game should never feel like “work”

The end motivation is simply having a better base for end game builds: having a large selection of characters of different classes, both magicka and stamina, with skills already leveled, just needing skill points filled, as well as gear and stacks of upgrade materials to outfit them. I pick carefully what gear I farm, and that's mostly about filling holes in sets I have most of the pieces already at this point; if it's BoE gear I simply search and buy it from guild traders instead of farming it myself, since, in general, I make the money it costs faster than the average time it would take to farm it myself. As for grinding I only grind during double XP events, when I lift whole character batches from 10-50 to act as crafters & storage for time being, but most of them will become active at some point; I only have a low level character currently, so that activity will come to an end in late October, when I will bring that to 50 during the Witches Festival as well. I never grinded CPs, just played the game normally and it took me 6 months to reach the 501 cap back in the day and I'm constantly over the cap for almost 2 years, gaining CP at 2x-3x the rate the cap is raised.

Once I started gathering mats on my way from here to there, farming stopped being an issue. It is amazing how much stuff you can pick up along the way.

As for Farming for Gear, the Transmute system has made that so much easier now.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Because I'm trying to cram as much stuff into the craft bag before my eso+ expires. (I only sub a few times a year to clean out all the mats and such filling my banks & sorting those box rewards was great with the craft bag.)

Now, it's back to farming AP and the occasional dungeon. I still want that Scalecaller skin I think it looks great.

I don't go out of my way to farm, unless I'm in "downtime" of doing quests (which can get tiring in their own right).

But while I'm traveling between quests, if I see something, I grab it. No reason not to.

One of these days, I'll break the habit of searching every urn in a dungeon.

I don't grind but I do farm, although farming for me isn't an exclusive activity. I'll often do some material farming while also doing other activities. Over the weekend I got a survey that led me to an area I missed, somehow I missed an entire wayshrine and small town. I took my time getting there and farmed along the way, now I have a side quest I missed.

    Conditioning.

Unless I'm running out of something, I don't farm, but I do jump off my horse most of the time I spot something red.

    i farm because it's there.

i've yet to come across anything i would consider 'grind' in this game. the thing where you kill the same set of mobs over and over for 12 hours straight to get 1% of the xp required for the next level? nope, not seen that.

    If there's something I want enough .

    I wanted Hunding's Palatial Hall, I did writs/quests/thievery until I could buy it. /shrug

counter-example: I really want that boat, to put at the dock I built at Hunding's Palatial Hall..... but I don't want it enough to get Master Angler. So I don't have it. ;)

Why farm something when you can pay for it by doing the variety of content that ZOS offers?? You can join up to 5 PC-guilds... If you can't find suitable gear with that much choice, you won't have the willpower to farm or grind...
