LOD view distance issues

Hi there everyone.

I have a pretty decent system atm. * see spoiler

I seem to be having an issue with the detail level I can only assume that it has something to do with draw distance.

Prop model, NPC detail, grass etc all seems to render quite well in proxy to my character within 9m. About the size of Steel tornadoes effect.

Beyond that distance things begin to get muddy and loose texture quality. Especially roads and the grass completely disappears.

But this is not happening to my Other computer with similar specs. The draw distance in the same location "draws" as far as the eye can see.
CPU - Ryzen 1700 ( 3.7ghz)
GPU - Gigabyte Gtx 980 4GB
MEM - Gskill Flare x 3200 16GB(2x8GB)

Are you using NVIDIA GeForce Experience's optimized settings for ESO?

In the game's video settings, what are the draw distance values?

These may sound like basic questions, but they help set a baseline.

No i'm not using optimized Geforce Experience settings. I have draw distance set for 50. but even changing it to 100. has no effect on the areas i'm talking about.

I just find it strange that an identical ingame setting on another machine. Can have a larger draw distance if that is truly the issue at hand.
Just to point out the areas I'm talking about in particular. The grass does not render anymore and the road definition has completely gone. it almost looks like i'm playing halo 1 in some areas!?

    The comparison machine is running
    • CPU - i7 -7700k (4.2)
    • GPU - MSI gtx 1060 3GB
    • RAM - Corsair 16GB 3000mhz c15's

More of what I am talking about. As you can see locally the textures have rendered but jut more than 20m away they blend into nothing. from the wayshrine near vivec city looking into vivec there is no detail?
Is this normal? or something i'm doing wrong?

Anisotropic filtering is not on. At least that is what it looks like.

Force anisotropic filtering x16 in your video card settings to fix the muddy textures.

You can raise it in the usersettings.ini file with the " MAX_ANISOTROPY" setting, where the max is 3. I do not know what that "3" corresponds to in terms of actual anisotropic filtering, though.

You can force higher quality textures to load in further away by changing the " SET MIP_LOAD_SKIP_LEVELS " value in your usersettings.ini file from whatever it is (0, 1, 2, or 3) to -1, -2, or -3 (there may be more fps stutters and hitches the lower the number is).

You may also want to use reshade to add a sharpening filter if you like that.

Here is what it looks like for me (different time of day, sorry):

Beyond that I do not know. The distance that the grass shows ahead of you is afaik dependent on the zone you are in. You don't seem to be having any LOD issues.

I have tried that "SET MIP_LOAD"...... It seemed to work for armours and some props only. At no real visual frame cost either so those thinking of setting that up go right ahead.

AF was on. but I will play around with it in Nvidia settings control panel to see if that will do anything.

Also should mention that the monitor I'm running is 27" and the one i'm comparing too and getting jealous about is only 23" could this have anything to do with the "crispness of the image" i'm seeing a difference in.* Both at 1920x1080.

I do think the mip skip setting only affects players and props, but I am not certain. As far as your monitor size, It won't make a difference in screenshots. Your textures are definitely blurry. I would double check the anisotropic filtering settings, perhaps both in the usersettings.ini file and in your driver settings.

View distance is just how ESO is as well as normal TES3 -prob do to engine to now part of lore-

This is a Official pick form eso home page

And as for the blur it's what the other person said in the ini files i have mine set to -1 -3 would be the best quality

I know its a different time of day and you cant really tell to well. But I just bumped up the AF(anisotropic filtering) in Nvidia's control panel like you said,

And I also set up these settings.
    JYvW2RY.png

4l80at5.png I'm not sure if these were set up like this a few weeks ago and due to an update on Geforce experience, it reverted back to a default or something. But Now my game looks great and this issue seems to be resolved without the need for "SET MIP_LOAD_SKIP_LEVELS"

If I see npc or player armour popping and it buggs me in the future ill consider turning it to -3. But for now it looks outstanding
