How do you guys save up tons of gold?

What are your methods? I am asking as someone who has saved up to be what I think may be a decent amount (around 100k) and was able to buy some things that I wanted, and now am back to saving.

Something I do, when I accumulate gold, I have this rule that I keep 1000 on me at all times as I am out questing. Before I get off for the day, or if I reach a point where I take a break, I will stop at the bank and deposit all the gold I have acquired and again, leave only 1000 on me.

What ways to acquire gold works for you guys?

    Guild trader.

Me personally, I'll buy gold items that are bind on equip from the golden vendor in PvP and sell them in PvE. Also sell duplicate items too, motifs mainly.

But not sure this answers your question, but when I spend said gold I like to keep at least 10K around, never spend it all. Mainly to buy food or potions for PvP, or buy gold mats for upgrades (and sometimes gear but I usually farm it). But I can craft both food and potions, so I buy those only when I'm out of reagents for potions, always seem to have plenty of ingredients for food.

Weeeelll, i can't put words in how bad I am at saving gold, highest I have had was around 400k I think, but I tend to always need something so I never get more than 60-100k at the time. I'm furnishing my house, buying motif pages for my outfit and rebuilding my main. The way I stack up gold when I do is pretty much just random when my income is high a couple weeks and I can't find what I'm looking for in the guild stores, u got no real tactic. I haven't logged in in 2 months btw, so you might want to consider taking this with a grain of salt.

Someone wanted to give to me 2k for sharing a quest. I said no. I like to be poor.
I run a lot of dungeons, but stealing NPC is a good way to make money too (also to increase Legerdemain).

I have a rule to keep 10 million on me at all times. Seriously. :p

PTS is your friend when it comes to making gold. When testers are theory crafting and showing off what will be the new flavor of the month put that on your list for what to farm for and how to get it. Never mind playing the new content for awhile, just get to farming because the lazy whales will buy your wares as fast as you can post them. Make sure you are in at least two good trading guilds with kiosks in decent non-DLC locations.

Running quests and vendoring the trash is usually pretty good money. Also most dailies will put a couple grand in your pocket. After that, it's just about persistence. You don't suddenly get handed 1m gold from someone, you just do your writs, plug the money in your bank, do some other dailies, run a random dungeon or two, and end the day 10-15k richer than you started.

I sell everything that I don't use. 5 guilds - so 150 items listed, the money soon adds up. The fact that I'm quite frugal probably helps too. If I want to purchase, say, some flax, I'll search at least 30-40 guilds to find the cheapest one.

Looting everything helps me too, everywhere I go I'll search every nook, node and cranny for items. I'm sitting on tons of items I know I won't use, including a stockpile of gold mats. Sell them bit by bit and the gold will keep trickling in.

It also helps when you find a really expensive motif/mat to sell, but that doesn't happen as often as I'd like.

    do writs

    do quests

    trade

don't buy anything you can make or farm yourself.

and if you can make or farm it you can probably sell it.

Writs, thieving, farming resources, making smart investments, and then not spending all the gold I make. I sustain my bank by doing the first three things I listed, but I make big leaps in wealth by making smart investments. I'm also mindful of how easy it is to spend a lot of gold on random junk, so I try not to do that.

this bit.... this is the important bit. don't spend unless you absolutely have to.

Easy...Just make sure your incoming cash flow exceeds your outgoing cash flow.

For me, easiest way to make gold is stealing. Steal/pickpocket green and above items and fence them. Helps if you have the passive from the thieves guild so you get extra gold from fencing. Also, don't decon white weapons/armor. SELL them to the vendor. it may only be 20-45g per item, but selling a bag full adds up FAST.

Save 20% of your inventory gold everytime you visit a bank.

I did this during the anniversary event and had saved 150k from all the motifs I sold.

Also, do BGs and spend your AP on wizard reposte swords. 20k a pop for 12k AP which is basically two matches lol.

Spend less than you earn each day. I keep 100K on each of my toons, and the rest goes in the bank. I (almost) never borrow from my bank. Hence my gold hoard is a non-decreasing function of time, currently at around 4 million. I'm certain that I've earned that much many times over the 1.5 years I've played the game. I probably spend 50K or more a day on crafting supplies, motifs, recipes, furnishing plans, etc. So my 4M is a really small fraction of my take. But I have managed to hang on to at least that much of my income, and it goes up slowly over time.

I quit buying houses and furniture recipes and my gold shot up to over three million in just a couple of weeks. I'm probably going to spend that and more soon though as I have 17 houses to decorate.

I am super bad at holding on to gold. But I am trying to see how long I can go without buying nonsense and how high I can get my gold up before I go on a spending rampage. The last event helped a lot. And I'm doing writs on 11 characters now, that helps as well. I'm in 2 trading guilds and I always keep them full, even if all I have is gear from less desirable sets (people need gear to decon or research traits with). Sometimes I farm for specific things. Stealing isn't really my thing, but I see lots of people doing well with that.

Its simple, do something for the items you want instead of buying it, it saves you alot of gold, mostly because almost every item in game is overpriced on traders.

Now its easier for veteran players who are allready maxed out in crafting and have there sets complete, but they needed to put some effort in that to.

    I do:

Thieving, crafting writs, trading and it gives me more gold then i actualy need.

I try to get stuff myself instead of buying them with gold.

But I do deposit most of my gold into the bank at the end of the day, with the exception of my character who knows motifs. She gets to keep 100k for when I go shopping.

Also, by seeing the replies of spending less, I really need to correct my habit of fast traveling from my map, and utilize way shrines more so I don't waste gold.

Have 4 million now and would spend some on missing motifs if the guild kiosks where more user friendly.
