Error 210 but launcher itself is also behaving strangely [Resolved]

Hi there

I hope this isn't rude, but please do read the following before suggesting I follow the standard proceedure. I'm in the middle of troubleshooting 'Error 210' but I'm having some added issues, making things more difficult. Many thanks!

When I open the launcher, I get the error message, but everything on the launcher itself seems 'stuck' (for want of a better description.) I can't close the error message dialogue box - closing takes a long time and then the box comes back again anyway, the Repair button starts to work after ages, looks as though it's going to work but then reverts back to either the 'Proceed with Repair?' or the 'Error 210' box.

I'm very reluctant to start deleting files with the next stage of the 'Error 210' troubleshooting, when I don't know why the launcher mechanics are also playing up. It took me about 24 hours to download the game a couple of days ago, and I'm EXTREMELY reluctant to reinstall (and yes I tried all the download troubleshooting too :) )

Any knowledgeable help very gratefully received!

Again, many thanks.

Bother - I forgot to say that I can't find a new 'Bethesda.net_launcher.patchmanifest' to download anywhere, I'm already running the game as adminstrator.

I can't seem to edit my original post, is that working as intended?

    Many thanks :)

Ah ha! I can launch the game from the eso64.exe, but my launcher is still broken. Which is fine, except I'm concerned about the PTS, because I can't update the game at the moment.

Um...is there anyone out there who can help me? A mod or something? I'm still not getting any advice on this?

The loading issues with your launcher could be the result of anti-virus settings or corruption in the program data folder. Try the steps listed below and see if they improve the launcher loading.

Create an Anti-virus or Firewall Exception for ESO

Each antivirus program is different and we recommend that you view the antivirus developer's website for full instructions on how to add exceptions.

The application files that may require exceptions are:
    • Bethesda.net_launcher: C:\Program Files (x86)\ZenimaxOnline\Launcher
    • ESO.exe: C:\Program Files (x86)\ZenimaxOnline\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client\eso.exe
    • Steam.exe: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe

Some antivirus programs require entire folders to be selected instead of a single file. When this is the case, the file paths below are what you should use. If required by the anti-virus program, include all subfolders since every file is critical to run the game.
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\

    Delete the Program Data
    1. Close the ESO Launcher.
    2. Navigate to the patch installation folder,
    3. By default, this folder will be located here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\Launcher\ProgramData.
    4. Locate and delete the ProgramData folder.
    5. Restart the ESO Launcher.

Please let us know if these steps help out or not.

    @ZOS_BillE

I've made exceptions to my antivirus program now (although the launcher was working without that two days ago) and I've deleted the Program Data file.

However, the launcher is still stuck in it's loops and is extremely slow when doing so. I can click on repair, the process seems to start, but stops again, and I get the 'Error 210' dialogue box again.

I can still play the game by using eso64.exe, but obviously can't update.

Is there a way I can reinstall the launcher without reinstalling the whole game again?

Just to let you know - opening the launcher from the game folder solved my problem for now, and my game is updating.

I cannot find \ZenimaxOnline\ under Program Files (x86), or anywhere in my PC! But I do have the launcher open? Please Help!
