This has probably been covered many times before but I am curious to what people think.

Which soundtrack throughout TES has been your favorite? Is it just pure nostalgia to here the oldschool music or have the new games surpassed that with some good ole Jeremy Soule?

My personal favorite is Skyrim because I think Jeremy did an amazing job with the score. To me, the music makes the game a much more incredible experience and I listen to the soundtracks at work regularly. What do you think?

    Oblivion
I love Skyrim's and Morrowind's to pieces, and Brad Derrick/Rik Schaffer have done such an incredible job with ESO's, but Oblivion's will always be my favourite. It just has this richness in its tonality. It's perfectly harmonious with the TES game that created my favourite landscape, atmosphere, and feeling - the combat music has a very Medieval-esque sensation that complements the game's aesthetic, the Dungeon music is actually creepy, (when I first played Oblivion, when I was quite young, it physically prevented me from entering any Dungeons whatsoever), and the regular, peaceful music is just stunning. Each piece is uniquely distinguished and beautiful in its own way, which I feel a lot of the pieces lack in other TES games.

Don't get me wrong, I love all Elder Scrolls music, but Oblivion's is my favourite. It's why I have an Argonian called, "Ventures-Through-Valleys", in homage of my favourite Elder Scrolls piece... o:)
"One fine day in the middle of the night. Two dead Kings got up to fight. Back to back they faced each other, drew their bows... and stabbed themselves...".

EPIC. That didn't happen to me in TES but I did avoid places because I knew I would get slayed if I went in :D

    Morrowind (original)
Morrowinds one was deep ost of adventure and exploration mystical land. It was so good that its main theme was later used as remixed version for main themes in oblivion and skyrim.
Eso morrowind is second as some of it remind of original tracks, and new ones like Dark Sanctuary are masterpiece, exploring areas that didnt touched in original game.

    Skyrim
ESO sounds are best underground and in Skyrim areas.
The others are too slow and I'm sleepy very fast, so turn the music off usually.
Recently I listen Carbon Based Lifeforms instead, because ESO doesn't change it's ambient musics, which is bad for exploration. We need more new tracks changing from time to time. ZOS hear us.

The single player Skyrim had the best soundtrack in my opinion so that's why I picked that answer.

Can't say about all soundtracks, don't remember them all, but in ESO i have favorite track. It took me awhile to find it, cause i didn't find it at any ESO OST compilations, i noticed that it always plays Lincharl Grand Manor, and found out that it's Dark Brotherhood DLC soundtrack.
Elder Scrolls Online - Dark Brotherhood DLC Music "Gold Coast 1"
First time i heared it in Cyrodiil. And traveling along the shore near Drakelowe Keep in Cyrodiil, at sunny weather and listening this track it's one of the most memoriable things that happened to me in ESO.

Skyrim had the best range, and its callbacks to several of Morrowind's and Oblivion's best cues was always a delight as well.

Really we do it without like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important.

    ESO
After being enchanted by the music of ESO, over time I've collected all the ES game soundtracks. They are all good, but the music of ESO (to include the DLCs) is my favorite so far. It could be this is the only ES game game I've played so it's closer to my heart

I am going with this explaination - even I will forever remember the music in TES3, because it was my first TES game, TES4 had exactly this flavor in its soundtrack like described in the quote - and this will as well be stuck in my memory forever.

This said, the music in ESO is beautiful and very well made - I wouldn't say it is less good, but it will never give the same feeling I had when I hear the Oblivion or original Morrowind themes. Call it nostalgia, but I'm feeling this way.

I actually like ESO's the most. It has a lot of variety and there are more in there that trigger good feels for me than the older games.

I think second would be Oblivion though as it has some tracks which remind me of the hours lost playing that.

Nothing will ever beat the chills I got during the opening sequence of Oblivion.

Combined the beautiful leap in graphics at the time, there is definitely some nostalgia to it. I could run/walk around for hours aimlessly just listening to that music and looking at the scenery, and I still enjoy listening to the soundtrack today
