Hi all,

Long time TES game player and way too long playing MMO's here! I did have a Breton sorc that I got to CP60 a wile ago but I haven't played for some time and the game seems so very different.
No I don't have that Sorc any more.

I just can't figure out what to race/class/weapon combo to play.

My problem is I like everything and ESO really really wants you to specialise in stuff! For example my favourite character in Everquest (the original, I know I'm showing my ages now!) was a half elf bard. Could do anything well but nothing super special in any one area.
ESO doesn't seem to have that.

So I guess I'm looking for advice on race/class/weapon combos that allow me to have the most flexibility but still being useful in both PvE and PvP. Not asking much am I?!

One thing I do like is Sword and shield style combat but it's not a be all end all thing for me. I just want to have fun but as well as being actually useful at some point.

Thanks in advance to any suggestions you may have.

Dark elf dragon knight. You can do a lot with that. Since fire damage now comes off stamina and Magicka you can do whatever.

I think eso has generally evolved to allow any class to adopt most any role. If we’re talking trials and vet content, then you get into an area where little differences matter, but for 98% of the content you can honestly have fun with any class...it just depends on if you think that class is fun. I don’t personally have fun with mag sorcs...others love them.

Stam Wardens strike me as a potential class for you. Their tool box is awesome, and it makes them pretty versatile. They get most buff/heals from class abilities, which means they get more versatility in weapons and bars. I can try a double bow build on my warden, or change it up and make him a dps dw killer, or go heavy armor brawler. They perform great in PvE and PvP.

I’d have almost the same comment about stam sorcs. The difference is that they only use four or five class skills, so there are fewer variations in setups. But I love them in PvP and PvE.

Magic templars are for me the most fun and versatile magic setup. I played mine sword and board for a long time. I find mine the king of surviving in PvE, but in PvP he’s a little trickier and I tend not to take him into Cyrodiil.

For weapons, I train all stam characters on dual, 2h and bow. You can train them on 1h too...why not. Magic characters, I do stages and 1h. There are so many skill points that my strategy is to just level everything they mightnuse as a vet.

For race choices...I wouldn’t fret too much. It’s good to pick a stamina or magic race based on your approach, but unless you’re certain you’re going to be a hardcore trial player I don’t think it makes that huge a difference. Meaning if you’re playing a magic character, an altmer and a Breton are going to perform pretty darn close.

Thanks for the advice @davey1107

I picked a Nord Warden. Going to be stamina I think with a little bit of magic for the odd mag ability buff etc.

I've modelled him on Aragorn (Not many remember him as a northman!) so making a 'ranger' type build going Bow/???
With a lot of the Wardens abilities to be morphed into Stam it just seems to fit the character and so far I'm having a blast!

I'm allied with the AD as my other friend who plays is a firm Khajiit player for the AD so at least we can fight together in Cyrodil.

So if you have any suggestions for a Stam warden Nord going Bow/??? I'm all ears! Although they aren't pointy!
