Is it just the abilities listed as "bash" or when you interrupt a target count as "bash"? First time trying a tank and wondering what the passive under sword and shield will actually help....thanks (and sorry for the most likely dumb question).
When using the Bash Skill, it can almost be like Dual Weild for a Sword and Board or other Melee character. However, for a Tank, Bashing is used to Interrupt a Boss casting. So, the most important thing is to stop the cast, so when you see the red sparkles, bash them ASAP. There are other ways to Interupt, like Shield Charge too.
So, any extra damage you get is just a bonus, but not a goal.
Also, since you are new to Tanking, and I welcome you as Tanking is my favorite role in a Dungeon, see this for more help
He has beginner to end game trials tanking advice. Tips on rotations, resources, etc along with easy to get gear or the more difficult BiS stuff. But, I will tell you, 98% of the places you tank, you can get by with some crafted and overland world drops just fine.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Thank you both for the answers... So I assume same with the cp points for reducing bash are for the interrupt rmb+lmb as well... Makes more sense... Just wasn't sure because it's always referred to as interrupt and really haven't heard the term bash associated with it...that and there being a skill called bash...also thank you for the link and advice.
