Can we PLEASE make Cadwell's optional or hideable?

With the game about to get it's 2nd expansion, Caldwell's Silver and Gold are looking ever more like relics of a time long gone, when they were an easy way of adding "extra" content for people who had run out of things to do in their own faction. They haven't really been relevant since One Tamriel.

I've done them on two characters and with all the new content that's been added since, I'm not going to do them again. Ever. Yet there they sit, cluttering up my UI and completely untouchable thanks to being part of the "Main Quest" category. I can't believe I'm the only person in this situation.

Please, ZOS, can we have the option to either drop these quests or hide them from the journal? o:)

I'm not asking for the quests or skill points to be removed from the game, just the ability to drop or hide them on characters who don't need them and will never do them.

How are they cluttering up your UI ?

I've done them (silver/gold) on only one character and don't care about the others..eventually I will for skill points.

But they aren't popping up in my UI on my characters that have not done them.
    Maybe it's an add-on doing it ?

Unless this is something changed real recently, Caldwell's Silver is forced upon you at the end of the main quest and, if you don't have any other quest active, then the marker and prompt for it will be on your screen.

Its the meta quest that cannot be removed after you get it from cadwell, the one that simply says "Complete Cadwells Silver/Gold" It sits there in top right hand corner, and you cannot hide it or remove it.

Agreed. It's annoying. I'd go a step farther and say every quest should be allowed to be abandoned. What happened to "play as you want?"

You don't have to take the quest from Cadwell. If you abandon it he will still be in the harborage with a quest marker for you to reacquire it.

This must have been changed recently then as all my existing characters had it pushed on them even if they immediately ported away from Caldwell without ever speaking to him.

I know!!! Its like all those stupid road signs on the highway announcing exits for towns and locations I have no interest whatsoever in going to, and never will!!!! It's so annoying.

(ok sorry, that rebutal was a bit dumb)

But it is still very hard to take a request like this seriously because the only impact it has on your character is a single quest slot out of 25. Aka, every character has 24 quest slots until they clear gold. It's neither a detriment to the game or the character. I understand from a completion standpoint it can be annoying, but then you have to weigh the pros and the cons of putting development time into doing something about it.

Do we really need to do anything about it?
Does its priority outweigh other things?
Is it worth evaluating time/resource necessities in doing something about it, etc...?

If I can draw a 'completionist' parallel, it is the same to me as having the wrangler achievements uncleared on alts. I don't need it on alts, I don't care. But it annoys me that when I look in my achievement log, they appear as unearned - I won't ever re-do master wrangler on alts. its way too time consuming. Should i not have an option to hide achievements I want individually to have a smarter filter than just earned/unearned? It's very irksome to have hard earned achievements show as unearned the moment I switch character. But if I ask myself the same questions mentioned above, my own answer for this is no. So I don't request it. At the end of the day, it's just not important. At all. (for me, obviously)

You may have a different answer to those questions (I'm assuming you do!)
But if you do not, then .... well,... yeah.

If you do feel strongly enough about it to make it come before things like more content, bug fixes, etc.... Then by all means keep asking for it. I would suggest bringing/finding more arguments and possibly better ones than it just 'annoying you'.

I'd wager that a fair few quality of life improvements were made to the game exactly because people were annoyed about something. Now maybe not enough other people care about this for it to get onto the devs' radar, but if you don't ask you definitely don't get.

I kinda agree, actually I wouldn't mind a right click "hide quest from tracker" option. That would be very nice to slim down on quests and less swapping around.

I got silver dumped on me 2 weeks ago, and I never even saw Cadwell. I was exploring Daggerfall and suddenly I hear "Come to the harborage" and bam! Cadwell's silver is in my questlist.

Nah you can ignore him but as soon as your port, he's like "suprise mutha******" and the quest auto starts.

They recently changed it so that new quests are automatically selected upon being picked up (this feature is currently on the PTS I believe) so obviously, such small quality of life improvements, whether deemed worthy by everyone or not, are being implemented without it taking away from the creation of new content or fixing bugs.

This could be another such improvement and personally I am all for it because doing Cadwell's Silver and Gold on two characters was more than enough and I never intend to do it again, yet it remains in my journal.

Unless I'm mistaken...the quests are optional and you can cancel/abandon it anytime and always go back and pick up it.

It's there though because the devs want you to play through the game 3 times before getting "max" level at the time (VR14). This was to slow people down so the content wasn't chewed up as quick. Now with 1T it isn't really needed.

It cannot be cancelled or abandoned; even if you avoid Cadwell he will show up and force the quest on you, at which point it becomes undroppable.

I see what you're saying. Could you just hide that part of the UI (the quest tracker), or is that not possible on console?

You can just not do it, but it will be there in your quest journal until you give in and do it. That's what the complaint is about.
The ONLY way to get rid of it is to complete the quest requirements for it - and then he'll slap gold on you... *sigh*

How recently? I really don't recall this being an issue a year or two back but it is now, I guess. I took the quest when I finished initial main quest on the latest character to go through it. I could swear I deleted it before I took my enforced break.

ETA: I support the ability to nuke it, though. Either that or more spaces in the quest journal if they're going to foist quests on us that we cannot abandon.

Just to clear up the confusion about whether or not the Cadwell's quests can be abandoned, see the following screenshot:

    ZFDNo73.png

On the left we have Cadwell's Silver, which is in the "Main Quest" category and is impossible to abandon. On the right we have an Undaunted pledge quest which has an abandon button.
