I'm Sick Of DB Trolls

I had a similar experience to the OP a couple of months ago trying to get the motif pages in Vivec city. Every NPC I approached, a particular player who was following me around would rush forward to BoW them as soon as I went into "sneak" mode. They weren't even after the loot, as they would back off as soon as the kill animation had finished.

After about 3 or 4 circuits of the area I was in, I started "sneaking" up on NPC's where guards or other NPC's had vision and who I had no intention of pickpocketing. The subsequent gap while the troll was forced to run away from pursuing guards at least managed to give me time to get an isolated NPC or 2 before they returned. After a short time, I guess the bounty accumulated by this was the cause of their sudden departure from the area.

like tholian said, the gold coast is generally a bad place for common killing/thieving because it's where all the assassins get to try out their new ability. of course they're going to be excited, of course they're going to try to kill as many npcs as possible to get xp. you'd probably be hard-pressed to find somebody in the brotherhood who hasn't done this at least once or twice.

If you are looking for specific items when stealing you can't simply go to another city.

ooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so you're trying to steal! I just thought you didn't know how to use the Blade of Woe properly so I knifed the guy to show you how! I wondered why it was taking some people so long to stab a civ.
