PTS Issue

Greetings,

I decided, to download the PTS and try out some new things.

But the PTS download time is outragesly slow. It is been 12 +hours now and still 21% and currently the download speed is 0.0 kb/s wich is strange considering, last day i reinstalled the live game wich were only took me away less then 30 minutes with an avarage download speed of 70-80 Mb/s speed from the ZOS server side.

it would be realy nice if someone could do something about this, because it is realy lame how is this service works from your side ZOS

Sounds like Australian internet....

The update is alllll of the assets for summerset and pictures take up a lot of data compared to the small amount needed for dungeon DLCs and any of the fixes patches.

The first 24 hours of a major PTS launch is going to be horrendously overloaded on downloads, with a lot of players downloading the whole test installation from scratch.

hm strange, it is also an interesting thing, when the luncher decieds to start it over again from 0% while 21% was done before, clearly there is something not working very well from the server side, or something.

I dont know for sure what is currently up for testing on pts, even my boyfirend were unable to download the pts as well, and he started to download it 24 hours ago.

this is clearly an issue wich needs to be adressed. reguardless if it is a stressing the capactity of the servers. It should work fluidly.

Yesterday I started to DL PTS had an estimated 2 hours while doing crafting and other writs in game and then 1 hour watching a show on Netflix. After that initial 3 hours (approx) I turned off all internet enabled devices except the gaming laptop I'm using to DL PTS leaving only it hard wired to the network which, obviously, was also left on.

I'm something of a 'night owl so the laptop only used started at around 04:00 (ish) and the time on the same clock now is 12:26 so that's about an 8 hour period with only the laptop using my internet connexion.

So the PTS had been downloading for a total of about 11 hours. When I checked the DL had reached the dizzying hieght of 23%. I was not impressed so switched off laptop, did what I needed to do then I thought that I would give the DL another go. It's taken about ten minutes to 'verify' and restart the DL which has now gone to 24%. Woot!

I hope to be able to actually test and report back regarding the PTS rather than use it as some sort of early access kind of thing. At this rate, Summerset will be launched before the PTS DL completes. OK! So that was maybe an exaggeration and I'm just happy not to have hit the walls some have that stop DL alltogether. I'm not impressed at the DL speed at all though.

I undrstand the DL will be affected by the amount of users trying to get it but this DL seems ill thought out. Maybe a staggered DL approach where users are alloted a time frame or where the DL is sent in chunks over a few days befor PTS goes live could help. As it is the current DL system is innadequate at best. ZOS want people to test for them then cannot or will not provide a reasonable download mechanic.

well, i know what you mean, but with this service how should we even get into the PTS to do our thing and provide feedbacks if we cant even downloadit? XD

I was too. I canceled, repaired, finally got it to finish, and now the PTS just crashes the moment I hit "Play". GG, ZO$.

Exactly! Many people will have other daytime internet usage so will try to DL overnight as they sleep. Also, there was an extention to the recent event as a kind of compensation for game down time and lots of folk will likely want to DL and do the event at same time.

I'm not the expert or ZOS employee so I do not know how to improve the DL situation but I really think that the current mechanic for DL of PTS is flawed and could probably be improved.

I guess I'll leave only the laptop connected today and hope to get the full PTS DL.

We know how big the DL is - it tells us on the launcher (estimate of remaining DL). We can also estimate DL time according to other things we have downloaded in the past.

This argument solidifies the arguement that the current DL system is inadequate. Maybe a staggered DL of a sort before PTS goes live would help.

OH! BTW. Those walls that stop DL in its tracks - I just hit one! Launcher now telling me 'content write failed' and has stopped DL (0.0KB/s). CHAMPION!

Gonna stop DL and try again shortly.

Trust me my internet is also very high end, at home i have 500/500 mb/s download and upload speed, at my work i have 1gig download and upload speed, and even in my work place on my gaming laptop, was unable to download the PTS wich was left into my office behind locked dorrs, and when i arrived today to my work place it was stucked at 21% and then it started over again just like at home.

At this point i think PTS is meaningless, unless ZOS figure it out how to fix this issues once and for all.
I dont know what went wrong from tehir side, but clearly they can't handle it

Re: the content write failure error, there's another thread on the issue in the PTS forum and ZOS has acknowledged the issue, so hopefully it'll be fixed soon!
