Set Question

I hope everyone will forgive me for asking what is probably a stupid question, but I am curious about how to obtain set pieces, once you have already obtained them, how do you obtain them again once you are fully leveled.

So for example I know you can obtain rings from the dolmen. But lets say something comes as a quest reward. When you are level 30 the item in question is garbage once you hit cp160. Outside of maybe doing something like paying through the nose through a guild vendor can you redo the quest or how do you re obtain a leveled version of that item.

Also just curious I see to be running into a number of different sets that I might be interested in using, but I seem to only be able to collect 2 or three pieces before getting sent to a new area, or outleveling the pieces I have obtained. How do you prevent that from happening. I mean it does no good to acquire part of the set, go up 10 levels hypothetically, and then find the other pieces. They are probably garbage at that point in time. How do you prevent missing out on set pieces? I feel like with this one tamriel thing you can miss a lot of these without using outside resources like addons or having to go back and forth from the game to a guide to the game to a guide.

Thanks for helping out a new guy.

Check this out. Suffice it to say it's complicated:

You are entirely correct that it's almost impossible for a low level character to obtain complete sets.. except crafted ones.

If you want some set gear and are in pc/na I'm in game, just /w @runagate

There are a number of ways you can get "updated" set pieces... One, as you mentioned, is through dolmens, world bosses, etc. There are a variety of resources (such as ESOUI, ESO wiki, Tamriel Foundry, etc...) that can help you out... Various regions of Tamriel have higher drop rates of certain set-items... look up the set you want to concentrate on, and concentrate your efforts there... You are still at the mercy of RNGeezus (the Random Number Generator) so make sure you make your sacrifices and are right with him...
The best way (imo) is to join a guild... By joining a guild, you can not only find people to join you in a particular region... most guilds have specific Crafters who can make specific set pieces for you if you provide the materials... Also, if you join-up with a "mentor guildie" who is a few levels above you... He/she can give you certain pieces that they've "outgrown...."

Don't worry too much about getting a set completed until champ 160. Actually, gear below champ 160 isn't worth any worry at all. And even when you get to 160 you won't be entirely sure what you want the character to wear, so don't sweat it. When you get there, it's no issue to craft champ 150... yes, 150... gear so you can experiment without the much larger cost of 160 gear.

Priority is grasping the capabilities and functions of the character. At the bottom of the math spreadsheet, differences in gear stats between 150 and 160 / blue and purple or gold, are actually small when compared to whether you know how to use the skills. A spread of several percentage points is easily bridged by competent maneuvering and calm level headed attention.

Some people race to max level, grinding away to get there, and arrive without experiencing any more of the game than zombies in handful sized groups. And those people have serious trouble getting their arse out of the danger red areas, or getting knocked over, or getting yanked across the room, or handling the 'loving' attention of a heavy hitter. Don't grind, don't be a skyreach baby.
