"Content Write Failed" when attempting to download ESO

ciaran.browneb16_ESO
After a few years of not playing this game I decided recently to give it another go, so I downloaded the launcher and it began downloading the game as normal, however as soon as it got to 25% (4MB left to download apparently) the download stopped and the launcher displayed a "Content Write Failed" message, and whenever I close and restart the launcher it displays the same message, staying at 25% and 4MB remaining, and I can't seem to find a fix. I've restarted my laptop, reinstalled the launcher, deleted the files it had already downloaded and tried downloading them again (which took ages as my internet speed is awful) and nothing has made any difference.

I have directed the launcher to install the game on my D: drive as my C: is too small to fit the whole game on it, so I can't really see a workaround here.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Perhaps the outcome that you describe is a result of a bug in the Bethesda Launcher. However, I suggest that you re-post your report in the Customer Support "forum" in the section for the platform on which you play TESO (PC, Mac, XBox One, PlayStation 4): The Elder Scrolls Online Forums. The players and ZOS personnel who monitor the posts there are more likely to be able to help you resolve the problem.

Note: installing the game software on a different drive partition than the one which contains the operating system (and from which the OS boots) should not be a problem. (On my PC TESO is installed on a different drive entirely, which contains only the ESO software and a few files that pertain to playing ESO). However, the Launcher installer will also create a folder tree in Drive:\Users\UserAccountName\My Documents\The Elder Scrolls Online on the system boot partition. Doing that might be the reason for the problem, but there should be a workaround.

Okay, thanks for your help. I'll go ahead and repost this in the customer support section.
