Does the banking assistant have some hidden timer?

I've already submitted a ticket about this but I was doing a bit of inventory shuffling and was using my banking assistant. I deposited a few things, stepped away for a moment, came back and deposited a few more things.
Well it turns out that I had used them instead of depositing them for my main crafter to use. While I wait for ZOS's response to try and sort this out I was wondering, does the banker have some sort of timer? Cause when I came out of the screen, which still had 'DEPOSIT' at the top of it mind you, my banker was nowhere to be found and when I used the quickslot again nothing happened. Only after a second use did he reappear.
I'm pretty miffed at this because I tossed in a few epic recipes and only noticed what happened when I try to toss in some motifs and got the message that I couldnt't use them because my skills weren't high enough.
