ESO+... Is it worth it?

A year ago the answer would have been an unqualified "yes". Craftbag + DLC + a reasonable amount of crown coins + a few other miscellaneous things...absolutely. I mean, if one wants to make any sort of commitment to the game. Obviously if one only has a single character played casually, then whatever.

Since then we've had the trend of "non-DLC expansions", somewhat balanced by the counter-trend of making Morrowind available for free after all (many months down the road, mind). And I personally suspect this is just the beginning of additional monetization efforts by ZOS, for a number of reasons (not the least having to do with the likely priorities of some of the equity owners). In other words, today I wouldn't recommend ESO+ unless you basically wanted to make ESO the one MMO (and invest the appropriate amount of time/effort/money/etc.).

Do you like crafting? Do you enjoy house decorating? Is bank space important? If yes on any, then yes. If no on all, then no.

Yes, it's worth it. I can't even play this game without the craft bag. Not with 10 characters, with daily crafting, etc. Add the monthly crowns on top of that, so I can buy mounts, skins and polymorphs, and it's a good deal for me. Plus everything else it offers, from double bank space to extra xp.

It's mostly the craft bag though, not sure I would get Eso+ otherwise. Maybe just to support a game that I want to keep going for a long time.

Agreed with this, and you get the DLC's for free (except chapters what is logical)

I use the free crowns sometimes for extra char slots or race changes, there was a time ive got over 12k crowns :)

RIght...Because releasing 2 expansions (chapters) is unbalanced with the amount of DLC content released. It's also standard practice for ALL MMORPG games to make previous expansions (chapters) available for free/discounted price. Just go look at the Battle Chest for World of Warcraft. You can buy the game + expansions for $20 now.

    Chapters:
    • Morrowind
    • Summerset

    DLC: (free with ESO+)
    • The Imperial City
    • Orsinium
    • Thieves Guild
    • Dark Brotherhood
    • Shadows of the Hist
    • Horns of the Reach
    • Clockwork City
    • Dragon Bones

    To put it chronologically,
    • The Imperial City
    • Orsinium
    • Thieves Guild
    • Dark Brotherhood
    • Shadows of the Hist
    • Morrowind
    • Horns of the Reach
    • Clockwork City
    • Dragon Bones
    • Summerset

Oh, and let's not forget the "FREE" content updates:

To me, there are 3 things, that each make it worth it, 1 - all DLC access, 2 - 1500 crowns each month, and the winner and still champeen, 3 - crafting bag...

People keep saying the craft bag on it's own is enough to justify the subscription price, then they wonder why ZOS keep screwing over subscribers with things like the Summerset release. If you keep telling them everything else is just a bonus they're going to keep treating it as if it doesn't matter and you'll pony up the cash no matter what they do.

I don't feel screwed over at all. New content I pay for once a year if I want it seems perfectly reasonable to me.

And concerning the original question, if you play two hours a month ESO+ is a better deal than going to a movie.

Do ESO+ Members think it's worth the membership fee (not ALL plans are $15...)?

On Xbox One/PC - NO, however for crown only DLC purchases, I suggest to sub for 30 days to try it out and after it expires use the crowns to own. Xbox One, is a BIG HECK NO as more often than not you will loose benefits during the 30 days as well as having to argue with support for your crowns. (While this doesn't apply to everyone it does apply to many since console launch) Also, Xbox One doesn't have the ESO Plus bundles offered on PC and PS4

As I understand it, some suggest they are subbing for one of the features (crafting bag) and I'd suggest to rethink that as $12-$15/month to me doesn't make good financial sense. Id say doing it 4 to maybe 6 times a year makes sense if you play 2-5 days a week but otherwise, just buy the chapter bundles when they offer the DLC in large packs and save the crowns for cosmetics if you choose the 4-6+ months a year idea I suggest.

Consider folks are paying $60 - $180/year for features that other game offer included in the cost of the game + DLC or expansions, and that you could buy a new game or 4 each year for that, its not a good use of funds.

depends on how you play. are you a crafter? hoarder? do you like having variety of costumes? mounts? do you like decorating?

this is what ESO plus does for you.

double the bank space, crafting bag, 1500 crowns a month to spend on stuff in crown store, twice as many decorations that you can place in your house or houses, acess to all the DLC's for the duration of subscription (can also be bought outright)

if you don't much care for crafting or decorating or hoarding - playing without ESO plus is very VERY doable. in general buying DLC's outright is cheaper, especially if you grab crowns in larger pack when they go on sale.

otherwise - its worth it to just keep subscription going.

After many months of being Plus I noticed something.

I have never used any of what I have in the craft bag, (i have like 500k alkahest) after doing the main and secondary quest i never went back to Hews Bane, Wrothgar or CWC and I always avoid the DLC Dungeons in random.

I'm still Plus, I like the game and I support it, but in my opinion it's not worth it.

In my opinion, yes. And for me it's not even just the craft bag - but the double bank space and double capacity for housing items. Crowns are nice - I don't buy a lot of big ticket items but it's nice to have that little "allowance" for when they have flash sales like the half price dogs.

Research and XP boost is nice but diminishing returns once your character starts hitting caps.

Definitely worth it. Access to the dlc, 10% extra gold and xp, double bank space and furnishing slots, 9000 crowns for 6 months, plus that crafting bag... wow what an excellent mechanic... And I only have to pay once and then get 6 months of ESO+. Yep, totally worth it, I'm never going back :D

Sometimes I wonder if the valid reason I used to lock "is it worth it" post back in the day is still valid.....

    Yes...yes it is.

That sounds like a player problem... So from a ZOS view it's worth it... but you just haven't taken advantage of all you get... That's understandable... Like most people only use 13% of their brainpower (I am fortunate enough to use 16% but I digress...) It's there for the taking, things just prevent people from taking it...

I'll join in on the YES train as well. I just couldn't play without the added storage space. I actually was so irritated when I first started years ago by all the micromanagement that's involved with inventory that I was about done with the game after only 3 or 4 months.

5 mules, jumping back and forth between toons, was spending way too much time dealing with inventory rather than playing, luckily almost at the same time I was done they introduced the crafting bag.
    (I was already a subber)

Couldn't play without it, at least not the way I like to play which is picking up everything not nailed down.
