Why Glyphs don't stack

I note that food and potions all stack up to piles of 200 yet for some reason enchanting glyphs have to take up one inventory slot each. This can be a pain when constructing gear where I typically have many of the same type of glyph depending on whether it is a stamina, magika or tanky health build.

I have lived with it for a long time but find when so many things from recipes to motifs of the same kind stack that enchantment glyphs awkwardly do not.

The same goes for weapons and armour. It may well relate to whether you can de-construct them. Food and potions can't be and stack, glyphs/weapons/armour can be and don't stack.

One reason Armor and Weapons would not stack is they are different motifs. However, even when they are the same motif, they don't stack.

Not sure why Glyphs don't stack.

Wonder if each of these items gets a unique ID, but when you go to decon, I can see them stacked in the crafting window, at least for glyphs in the Craft Store Addon.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

For things to stack they need to fulfill two things:
    1. Have identical item links (this includes hidden data in the link, sometimes identical looking tooltips have different link data).
    2. Be set to stack by the game.

In the case of glyphs it would be the latter case of they are just not set to stack by the devs. I would guess this is to prevent someone from hoarding 1000s of glyphs for deconstructing purposes.

Considering that the glyphs show as stacked when you go into the extraction tab at the enchanting table, the fact that they glyphs don't stack in our inventory is actually pretty mind-blowing.

Edit: and this is on Xbox so not even any add-ons being used.

They stack within the Enchanting crafting UI when deconning them, so the coding foundation for that is in place, I can think of no reason they don't also stack in player inventory. It has always been an annoyance to me.

I wonder if there is a relation to those items that can show the person who crafted them. Glyphs and gear show the name of the person. I don't know if there might be a hidden creation date too.

I don't recall that food or potions show the name of who created it.

I understand why a trebochet does not stack. Still not sure where the player puts and object several times their size but that is another discussion.

Maybe someone with the ability can setup a petition to have them implement better stacking across the board for items. I would sign it like 200 times, you might say I would stack my signature on it. :) Please please lets code better stacking on items for us hoarders crafters. Same for maps etc

I thought the same thing. Would be nice if glyphs would stack. Same goes for runeboxes and treasure maps
