If gravity were higher it would be more difficult to jump over stuff, which would require changing alot of places where you suddenly wouldn't be able to jump over. I think this would hurt gameplay and require alot of manual changes from the devs all over the game world. Not worth the time investment imo, and jumping height isn't that bad really.
I agree with the 2nd point. It always feels weird to get slowed down when jumping during sprint. That's not how sprinting usually works, and I see no reason to it. The fix should also be easy for ZOS to implement, just don't slow character artificially down during jump. If it works on a mount why not on foot?
**Sigh** Jumping, like combat, requires practice... I had trouble at the very beginning, but I bought some crates, barrels, and boxes and set up a little training course in one of my guildhall's back yard. I notice a difference when questing with new guild members, in that it takes them 3-4 attempts to jump over an obstacle... whereas with practice some obstacles can be cleared on the first try....

This. I can recall at least twice that they have nerfed jump height, early beta, and momentum, around TG update, to get to where we are now. This is largely on purpose.
