Lightning Staff VS Inferno Staff

Basically, title. There are some disparity between people's guides to MagBlade - some say they use Nirnhoned Lightning on backbar with Blockade, some use Infused Inferno (both Maelstrom). I have a Lightning MA staff, so I am debating the need to transmute it to Nirnhoned (or Infused? I am at a loss here). Which is better?

Depends, for heavy aoe, use lightning, for st use fire, for mag dk, always fire.

On backbar some of the best players suggest nirnhoned, on front bar infused, just so you know, infused with damage glyph and minor major sorcery is a whooping 7% dps increase, it's pretty insane

as long as engulfing flames of a dragonknight is provided (which should be in good guild raids) MSA flamestaff is best on slot. lightning staff was better pre dragons bones, since all the lighting damage provided a lot of offbalance and the cp passive exploiter increased damage against offbalanced enemies by 10%. now offbalance is up 25% at most, which makes it hard to rely on that. thats why everybody changed to flamestaves on backbar, especially with the buff from engulfing flames. nirnhoned is BiS for aoe fights, since enchants cant proc on multiple enemies, because they have a cooldown. therefore the gained 200 spelldamage from nirn is better, since all enemies are affected. for single target damage infused is better, since it actually makes up for those 200 spelldamage with a high uptime of the berserker enchant.
so thats why double inferno is best atm with nirn for aoe and infused for single target.

Many believe Nirnhoned is better but the best magblades I know all use Infused on their vMA fire staff.

The problem with Nirnhoned is that it only buffs the spells cast from the back bar, so usually Blockade and Crippling Grasp.

Infused with berserker enchant buffs all dmg you do. Most hard hitting skills are slotted on the front bar which explains why infused would be optimal.

I dont know if the same applies to the vMA shock staff but I would personally pick infused.

You are right, i forgot about the off balance nerf.

But from what iv'e read, you can keep up the damage enchant 100% of the time with good weaving and infused, that's 450 spell or weapon damage, which is pretty insane

Ok, that's pretty much what I wanted to hear, thanks! Gotta farm that vMA now for at least two Inferno staves...
