Mechanical acuity and Julianos are good crafted sets for magicka builds.

Those two, and Seducers are the sets I use when leveling most of my magicka characters.

acuity, julianos, seducer, magnus and Spectre's Eye are all good the last three are mostly for leveling and for new players

The obvious answer to your specific question (adds spell damage and crit) is julianos. That is the first place to start. The bigger question is, what is this for? PVE DPS? If so, then I vote julianos unless you are in a good group, then i might suggest moving towards a mechanical acuity build. It scales better in a raid. It also kind of depends on how you want to set up your gear. MA is neat because you only really need it on your front bar. Julianos really needs to be on both if possible.

I have been using 4 seducer+4 magnus on all my Magicka characters until now.. They have been reliable good old friends, fiercely loyal and so forth..

I think i will be moving to try julianos for a change on this one character to see.. It feels like a good set for my general use.

I wonder, does the upcoming jewelcrafting open up Jewelry for these sets as well, so that one can actually have two 5 piece sets equipped simultaneously.?

4 pcs. Julianos for the crit this and only this.
    +5 pcs. dropped War Maiden
    +2 pcs. monster set
That's my magblade vamp with lightning/resto staves.

Im with flame staves, she is a crazy risk taking vampire not afraid of fire... Propablt Dunmer arrogance :dizzy:
Anyway, i guess that could also work..

Though i think i will try to balance the thing with a3 piece Vampires kiss for extra health and healing perks.. Just to make her more solo centric, helps with survival i noticed. Especially if my off bar is made for survival and main for more damage and staff as the set changer there to switch between 5 julianos and 5 Vampires kiss.

Might not be the most efficient, but i have grown to like this set as part of some nightblades.

    I dont get it -.-

Each time i do a magicka armor, i do the miscalculation that i can have 4 piece AND 5 piece of crafted sets :dizzy:
But this is only possible with Dual wielders and Sword%Boarders :dizzy:

Well, it is what it is i guess.

This will change when Summerset drops. 5+5+2 for all.

For PvP use innate axiom. For PvE use mechanical acuity or Julianos

You still haven't mentioned whether this is for PvE or PvP.

For PvP you should be looking at sets like Shacklebreaker, Amber Plasm, Wizard's Riposte, and War Maiden.

I am no expert on PvE, but for a high-end DPS build, I believe something like Julianos or Acuity is optimal, combined with something like 4x Moondancer. In the absense of the latter, 3x Willpower will do, and any gold weapons.

Gilliam the Rogue does not rate War Maiden highly for PvE, nor the slew of other sets that only buff one particular damage type. He backs his opinion up with target skeleton parses where 5x War Maiden fares worse than, for example, 5x Julianos. This is because you inevitably use skills (Elemental Blockade, Meteor), damage enchants, and synergies, that are not buffed by War Maiden. It's really more of a PvP set.

Since you mention self-healing and solo play, what does that mean? Overland content, delves and public dungeons? In that case I would not worry too much about sets. It comes down more to having a decent build - with, say, Harness Magicka, Healing Ward and Strife - and a bit of experience.

World bosses vary. For soloing the hardest ones you need high defenses, which may mean heavy armor or sets like Fortified Brass / Armor Master.

Veteran Maelstrom Arena is a topic onto itself and probably best done with a specially tuned build (needs high sustain, high damage, not too low health, and just enough healing / defense).

You might also mention your character level and CP. If you are still below 160 CP, don't worry about equipment. Just make sure to use some defense and/or healing skills, such as Harness Magicka, Healing Ward, Mutagen, Refreshing Path, Resto Ult, Soul Tether, and so on. Quest or grind till CP 160, then you can worry about sets.

In general, if you are not using food or drink, you need to use that. Custom glyphs on armor and jewelry are par for the course, and I highly recommend you learn potion crafting and make sure to get the Medicinal Use passive. The other passive every end-game character needs in the long run is Undaunted Mettle.

I always did good with Julianus. If you are after more power and crit, that's a solid choice.

You reveal yourself best in how you play.

    Kelces - Argonian Templar
Farel Donvu - Dark Elf Sorcerer
Navam Llervu - Dark Elf Dragonknight
    Aniseth - Wood Elf Warden
    Therediel - Wood Elf Templar
    Nilonwy - Wood Elf Nightblade
    Jurupari - Argonian Warden

It is for generalopen world PVE, whether it is questing or doing delves or attempting to solo dungeon or world boss which is pretty tough for me compared to what i could do with sorc which i played a lot earlier.

I have found out, that for general gameplay, the 4 seducer and 4 magnus is most helpful as it allows good resources for many spells and heals.. This time im just trying to do more damage to get things down a bit faster as i dont like those enemies hitting my pretty face :)

When i played Sorc, i had great tools to keep enemies at bay, im yet to master this with this nightblade but i guess its more about kiting on NB than being a stationary turret mage traditionalist :D

OK, so while the EU server logon is down, I'll talk some more.

To deal with mobs, spam Sap Essence. It is not a high damage skill, but since it heals you there is often not much more you need to do. To add AOE damage, I would add one or more of the following:

    Elemental Blockade
    Twisting Path or Refreshing Path
    Grothdarr
    Destro Ult

Add Inner Light for crit and magicka, as well as Merciless Resolve for the Minor Berserk Buff, and magicka Nightblades become pretty monstrous AOE damage dealers.

In terms of single target, you have:

    Swallow Soul / Funnel Health
    Crippling Grasp / Debilitate
    Assassin's Will (Merciless Resolve proc)
    Impale (Execute)
Soul Harvest (20% damage buff for 6 seconds)
Elemental Drain (for sustain and damage)
Elemental Blockade and Path can also be used single target

Don't bother with Concealed Weapon. It does more damage than Funnel, but it's bad for sustain and it's melee only. More of a PvP skill.

    For sustain use:

    Siphoning Attacks
    Elemental Drain
    Harness Magicka

This will allow you to use more damage enchants on jewelry or a damage set instead of a sustain set.

In general you will want to weave a light attack before every skill. In fact for optimal DPS you need Assassin's Will, and the light attacks are a requirement.

The problem with the 4/4 setup is that you miss a 5 piece bonus which is typically about twice as strong as the others. Much better going 5/3 than 4/4 most of the time.

Do you have monster sets and/or VMA weapons? If the answer to both is no, I would go something like 5 Julianos, 3 Willpower, 3 Magnus. If you have a passible monster set (Skoria, Nerienth, Zaan, Grothdar), Ditch the magnus and use random staffs.

This will all be out the window in summerset, so I honestly wouldnt make anything gold until them save maybe a front bar weapon if you can spare the Rosin.
