Yeah, the flaps look good in general, but some of them are very floaty and don't animate well.

I'd go with flaps. Without makes it look like he skipped leg day.

If the flaps were attached instead of, on some armor, magically floating a hand's width away from the body, I'd not mind so much.

I'd still like them optional. There's a looot of gear that would look better without any flaps to me.

It's logical on some armor but ruins others. For some armors I like to use those pants that have lil coat flaps on the legs but the side flaps and butt flaps ruin it

Flaps are pure evil on medium/light armor. Heavy is OK.

Now try DC heavy chestpiece with ragada heavy pants! I want to see what it will look like. Thanks my man

hip flaps are okay, but they need to be proportioned more appropriately with scaling to character size. The other glaring issue in your photo is the floating pauldrons.

I've noticed since the outfit system came out and its easier to see a lot of different styles at once, that a LOT of shoulders have really terrible floating issues.

It's all on a case to case basis.

How did you remove the flaps on your pic? Was it photoshopped?

For my outfit, id prefer it if there were no flaps, though it still looks okay with it:

They're appropriate on some gear. The problem is that they're on all gear, like it's some unspoken requisite. They are functionally useless on the mercenary light gear, for example.

The design itself is crappy, so it looks bad either way. The armor is obviously designed with tassets - i.e. what the hip flaps pretend to be - in mind. So without them it looks as if it was lacking something. But the hip flaps are functionally pointless.

First of all, they have those pointy protrusion at the top of the flaps. Pointy bits that will chafe and poke at your forearms and generally get in the way. Secondly they are in the wrong position. They should be on the front and curve to the side, protecting the upper part of the thighs and follow the movements of the legs. But hose things hang on the side leaving the front exposed.

If I had to wear that armor in real life, in a real battle, I'd just strip the flaps away. They just add weight, get in the way, chafe my forearms and don't even provide protection where I need it. But having done so, I'm left with an armor that looks like it is missing a vital piece, and it is! It's missing tassets.

But the most atrocious part is the groin flap... That thing would fly off a real armor so fast that you couldn't believe it. And so would the butt flap too. Those are utterly pointless, get in the way, make riding difficult and uncomfortable. Make sitting down on a chair a finicky affair and would just constantly be banging and chafing against my things as I moved.

Properly designed tassets provide protection from the front too, and mobility is a crucial element of a well designed armor. If you feel like you need extra protection for your family jewels... Well there is always the option of going with a cod piece. But realistically speaking, you guard said area by actively fending of blows to that region, and not with a metal apron.

Also the floating pauldrons are silly, and also badly designed. ESO animation also tends to move them as a part of the arms, so the bigger pieces tend to look silly as they waffle about as you run. Pauldrons are attached to the body near the base of the neck. They do not move along with your arm, they conform to the movements of the shoulder, but that is a topic for another grievance thread in itself. The pertinent point with this armor is that the pauldrons on that design don't actually protect the shoulders. There is a large gap between the neck and the pauldrons - that is the area that those pieces should actually be protecting. All in all... It's just a really badly designed set of armor. And no one in their right mid would wear it in an actual battle. And just don't get me started on how restrictive and uncomfortable that cuirass would be to wear... Cheesh.. Talk about a *** design.

The same can be said for most armor styles in the game. ESO armor designers have no clue about how actual armor works.

Either of those flaps looks good, in my opinion.

Those arm cops though... horrendously fugly.

I stand by my original position I think tassets should have a hide option, if you don't like your legs, use different legs. I use ebony heavy legs anyways and I bet they would look great without tassets.
