Comcast admits to blocking emails from 'noreply@mail.elderscrollsonline.com'

Goobertron
I have been on the phone for hours today with Comcast trying to resolve the issue that I can't get ZOS to respond to - which is I am not receiving the emails that contain the access code in order to validate the PC I am using to play the game or to validate access to the Support Portal. Comcast finally admitted that 'noreply@mail.elderscrollsonline.com' is being blocked by Comcast and the only way to get it unblocked is for ZOS to contact Comcast and go through the process to have it unblocked. Needless to say I will stop using my Comcast email account, however, my service ticket that I have not heard any thing on from ZOS is to change my email address to a Gmail account (since Gmail doesn't block that domain) and for some reason that has not been done by Support - so I am screwed by both companies. WOW - it just gets better and better. So glad I pay both companies monthly to get this treatment. :(

@ZOS_GinaBruno (sorry, you were the first name on the list). please, please complete the request in ticket 180408-003687 where I can access the game again before the Anniversary Event is over or before I die of old age (which ever comes first)....... and you guys just might want to get Comcast to stop blocking that email address.

Thanks.

Did Comcast say why they are blocking that email address?
  • Goobertron
Yes - they said they had received multiple complaints of spam.

Thanks for sharing this info. The experience sounds incredibly frustrating, and who would've thought Comcast would block that email address? I hope it gets resolved soon.

usually this isnt actually the case, they dont actually block it, their anti spam provider does. it works off a reputation system. a certain number of emails per hour for instance. the more emails received in an hour, the lower the reputation - more emails is more likely to be spam. Once it goes below a certain level, its spam and blocked. If the emails stop, reputation goes back up and it auto unblocks. This is under normal circumstances.

There are other factors that can affect the reputation of singular emails - certain phrases among other things. I very much doubt the ESO emails fell under this unless their anti spam provider is useless. Then again, some of them are - they block people, then demand money to unblock them.

EDIT: unless comcast use inhouse software, any other email provider using the same anti spam software will find it blocked also.

I can only tell you what they told me. But of course they are not a reputable company so who knows what the truth is or what tool they use if any. Heck, by their own admission, they don't have a way of determining in real time what your bandwidth usage is or how it was used or by what device. Everything is guess work with them where they can gouge their customers for all they can.

All I know is that they told me that domain was blocked due to excessive complaints of spam and that I could not request that it be unblocked - that request had to come from ZOS. They also said that they had notified ZOS of the blocking and that ZOS would need to follow the process to resolve the issue. But who knows how much of that is truth and how much is fiction. With Comcast you never know.

I am closing that account so I am not sure I really care anymore. However, I do need ZOS to handle my service ticket asap and get my email changed from the Comcast Account to the Account I requested in the ticket. Not sure what the delay is on that but I am very disappointed in ZOS that it hasn't been handled by now and that they have a paying customer who can't access the game they are paying to play. So for me, both companies right now are not at the top of my favorite's list.

Thanks. So do I. :) I'm missing out on all the fun items in the Anniversary boxes.

Probably better to not use an email address connected with your ISP anyway since you could always terminate your business relationship with them.

Hello. I have the same problem with my second account @TisteAndii86
Bought new laptop and now I can't login because I don't receive mail with code. I don't have that problem with my main account @Anomanderr_Rake, Also checked mail for spams or blocked adresses, it was empty.
