PVE overland difficulty set

I was thinking for people who want to play solo PvE for a while and not tear their eyeballs from their sockets in VMA, maybe there could be a way to set overland difficulty making quests and zone mobs harder with more resistances and damage like a veteran overland difficulty that gives more exp and better loot.

That could really make exploration and questing much more interesting.

    Maybe Zos could just introduce a “hardcore mode”, like Diablo 3 has, where death is permanent for that character.

    Judging by how more difficult the content here is from diablo where it just unnaviodable to die a few times till you learn the new trial or even make small mistakes I don't think that would work here.

    Even in Diablo I never played hardcore and still don't get why people do it, just play normally and pretend you are playing hardcore and aee how far you would get

    One Tamriel made everything too easy. I miss the days where if you wanted a challenge you could just go to a zone several vets levels higher or go to Craglorn.

    Don't allocate CP, don't use your attribute points, put lower level enchants on gear, use lower level gear, remove items of gear (eg no shoulder pads), just a few ideas.

    I understand why ZOS leveled the mobs and players in open zones. But as a fairly new players, I missed the point when you could go back and kill that bug that killed your first day. Now that bugger still hits hard. In other games it was fun to go back and one shot them just because. Oh those goblins paid for it back in old EverQuest. It was a blood bath one night.

    I wouldn't mind a slider that lets you set difficulty but see no reason for better rewards or more experience.

    I know right?

    Put on some white gear (no enchants) and play overland content to infinity ...

    Are you sure? It’ll give you a reason to start over with a new character until you learn the mechanics. I mean, that’s challenging, right?

    What’s the point to more challenging content if death doesn’t mean anything?

    lets make it abit more friendly like making your character lose a large amount of exp everytime they die in overland whether its fall damage or environmental hazard

    hard mode is possible in instanced sessions because you can add immunities and special mechanics.

    in open world you cant do that.

    no matter how many HP or resistance you cannot take a single wolf and make it a threat or a three man trash mob once someone has a full suite of abilities without additional mechanics or immunities... things like pins and self healing just go too well in such encounters.

    if you want to have hard mode overland you have to restrict yourself.

    This already exist. But to access it you have to know the secret. Its like knowing the code for godmode but the opposite. Here is how you access Vet Overland HM:

    1) Reset all attributes. Put 50/50 magicka/stam.
    2) Reset all CP. Only put points in 1 skill of each of the nine minor trees.
    3) Sell all crafted pots and food.
    4) Deconstruct all your gear.

    You have now entered the pocket( more like a duffel bag) realm of Two Tamriel. You heard correctly, TWO Tamriel, as you are now playing on a whole new level.

    How to play Two Tamriel:

    1) You cannot use anything that was crafted.Only trash pots, food. Items sold by vendors are acceptable.
    2) You cannot use any gear that is not an overland drop( you can use chest gear). If its crafted or dropped in a dungeon/trial, you cant wear it. You cant wear monster shoulders either. No cheating.
    3) You have to do every overland quest, including repeatables at least once.
    4) You have to visit all locations given in "destinations"
    5) You have to get all achieves for every zone.
    6) You have to kill every delve, public dungeon, and world boss at least once solo.
    7) You can only use one weapon bar( you will see why)
    8) Every green gear drop you get or better you must immediately equip and use until you get another gear drop for that slot. So you might be in in a heavy divines purple chest. and pick up a green well fitted robe...guess what you have to wear the robe. You have to do this with weapons as well. You cant use two ability bars because if you are allowed to use two and weapon swap then you can choose what weapon to get rid of and replace with a better weapon. Also one bar is harder. Make good choices.

    Note: you have to loot everything you kill.
    HARD MODE: Include white gear in your gear rotations.

    On a serious note: They could just mirror Tamriel. Make like a portal to it where it sticks you on a vet server. If you want to go back to normal Tamriel you just back through the portal. I think the reason they dont do something like this is because 1) they dont want to spend the money. 2) because it would dilute the feel of a busy/healthy server. People dont usually enjoy MMOs that are desolate. But its more #1 than anything i would say.

    I want the ability to just switch off cp in overland. It would be optional and wouldn't need a new instance.

    You can. Default: Tap => F > E. For 3000 gold you can play without CP.

    But then you can't quest while you are waiting an hour in the dps queue.
    You can't be questing around then someone asks for people for a trial or while they are trying to gather people for a trial.
    You can't turn off hard mode when you need to solo (or tank as a dps with a group of low levels) a world boss for a quest.
    You can't PVP one day and quest the next.

    Not everyone has infinite gold to keep turning on and off cp.... and I like hoarding and I'd rather mindlessly one shot mobs than than lose gold everytime I want to make questing harder.

    I do not assign my cp when I am leveling a character, but I am basically screwing my group over when I do random normals (but at least anyone can carry me)

    nice ideas. However, almost all classes can burst to hell trash mobs even without CP:

    Mag Sorc: LA + Crystal blast + execute + HA. Overload to melt bosses;
    Mag Templar: Solar barrage and/or Spear + Sweeps;
    Stam Warden: sub-terrain + 2-3 Shrouded daggers;

    Don't know about Mag DK. All that dots and no single damage attack for burst... maybe something with Force Pulse.

    Yeah I stopped caring. I haven't enjoyed "overland" pve since they nerfed the crap out of craglorn and the imperial sewers. I actually enjoyed hanging out in those areas back then. Now I don't even bother visiting them because I find easiness to be boring.

    Hence why I just stick to PvP.

    I really think the only solution is to offer a perma-death mode. Let’s be honest here, no matter how “difficult” they make the encounters, people are just going to keep practicing and learning until they eventually master the game mechanics.

    No matter what other consequences are introduced for dying, the game will go back to being “too easy” again. The only way to disrupt that cycle of learning and progression is to eliminate all progress and have people start over from the beginning.
