Help me build a stam dk !

Hello all! I just recently created my first stam Dk and I'm having trouble deciding what gear I should use.
I would really like to run medium armor but I'm also open to using heavy . Trying to avoid 7th and WW setup, fury is not very appealing to me either. I had armor master in mind for med but have no idea what to pair with it . Help!?!?!

if you don't mind the rage (lol) Krotha likes his stam DK's and does pretty well.
I'm not sure if you have a main to farm gear for him/her but you will pick up some pointers.

You could go with a base setup like bone pirat + blood spawn.
Then adjusting with what you have/ need.
Maybe 3 agility and then master/vmsa/asylum weapons.
That should provide you with enough dmg, sustain and heal to explore the class and check if it is what you seek.
1hand shield deathwind(craftable) can be a nice substitute if you don't have acces to arena/trial weapons.

Or if you want armor master complete on your 1h shield bar( i guess thats the way to go since the buff carries over) adding bone pirate with jewelry and a monster set should make a solid build.
All with 5 medium 2 heavy

wear bone pirate, agility, blood spawn with asylum 2h, master's bow.

Go ahead to cyrodiil and get two shot by a gankblade while trying to hit that *** ability called dizzying swing.

Then delete your DK and make a stamblade with your old build.

PS: to be more serious pair armor master with bone pirate to make up for the lack of stats and sustain. Armor master requires you to spam shuffle literally every 10 seconds so you need to be able to sustain well. No matter what gear you use you are always supposed to outsmart your opponent because dizzying swing is a skill that is very easy to counter, so instead of spamming it as soon as you can, try to be a little wiser, and hit your enemies when they don't expect it.

@DemonDruaga that all sounds great but I'm in the category of players that are too trash to beat vmsa lol. Well I've been doing it over time ( I'm currently on wave 6 or 7 cant remember ) and dont have enough friends to run a trial so I'm outta luck for those weapons .

You can use SnB front bar, sure.(thats also how I prefer to play majority of the times.) Reverb bash is a reliable CC with a powerful debuff attached to it, and heroic slash or pierce armor can be used as spammables with proper weaving. If you are going this route I highly recommend going heavy armor because it is both more forgiving and heavy armor constution gives you better sustain when you're blocking.

And about ability altering weapons, asylum trial is very easy on normal difficulty, Go for it and get yourself an asylum 2 hander. It provides you very strong ultimate regen and is a must have on medium armor DK builds, in my opinion.

As for 2h weapon type, If you're going for SnB front bar I highly advice getting an axe for the bleed. IF you're going for 2h dizzying swing type of build any of the three will do.

With this build and heavy armor I am easily able to get over 10k heroic slash tooltip. I would say its pretty decent, but the sustain sucks. You will have 45k+ maximum stamina , and battle roar is nowhere near enough to fill it back up

(if you go bone pirate instead of draugr the sustain becomes amazing though.)

Well vmsa 2h is nice to have but i prefer the asylum ones in almost every szenario, i don't know about your enviroments, but getting in a random group for normal sanctorium should earn you a weapon in no time, the extra ulti gain is really nice for a dk.

But if that ain't an option you can just craft armor master 2h so you'll get the 4th piece bonus on that bar.

Alternativly 2h + dual wield instead of sword and board can work good too aswell,i guess at that point it comes down to personal preference, i enjoy both styles.

@Ragnarock41 I see.. I'm going to play around with the 2h/bow s&b/2h 2h/dw and see which one fits me . Is tremorscale any good for pvp anymore or has it just died ?

@DemonDruaga I'll see if I can sneak my way into some normal runs this week. That would be great if I can get my hands on a 2h.

tremorscale is dead, don't bother using it.

If you want to use an offensive monster set, selene is actualy a good choice. You won't hit with every procc, but often enough since it has only 4 seconds cooldown. And it hits really hard, helps me a lot in getting kills in bgs.

Have you considered going werewolf with your stamDK? It comes with a few trade-offs, but it can give you a upper hand against tankier enemies. Here´s what I´ve tried lately on my stamDK Werewolf:

5 Shacklebreaker (5 Bodypieces. 1 Reinforced Chestpiece, rest impenetrable)
5 Bonepirate (3 Jewels + 1h&S frontbar)
Random 2hander backbar or Bonepirate 2hander (will be great next patch when 2handed weapons = 2 Slots)
2 Mighty Chudan

Very tanky and durable, the damage comes from your werewolf form. And you´ll get a huge amount of resources when using the WW-ultimate. Playing werewolf is a little bit different to other playstyles but definitely something I think you should consider.

Can go snb main with 2h asylum using execute on back bar.

Very important to use speed and immovability pots.

I might actually try this in an upcoming duel tournament. Sounds disgusting.

@Qbiken I haven't actually considered going WW. Mainly because I have been one since like .... idk before imperial city, feel like I wouldn't get the playstyle down. But practice makes perfect though. Setup sounds nice though I'll also experiment with this .

sDK for PvP w/o 7th legion?

Ok. Try one crafted + one dropped set. For crafted, I recommend using fortified brass. It will give you resistances of a heavy armor even if you are in medium armor. For dropped set, you can go for automaton. It will not boost your healing, but you will have very nice leaps, dizzying swings and reverse slices, or dawnbreakers, if you chose so. Monster set could be traditional bloodspawn that further boost your resistances, give you some stam regen and also speed up the ulti regen. For me it is BiS on a sDK. Other options are Selene, Velidreth or Valkyn Skoria. Selene and Velidreth will give you nice damage burst, Skoria will proc on numerous dots you can put on an enemy, creating pressure.

Race should be orsimer, because they have faster and cheaper sprint, and DK needs that mobility being the super slow class.

Depending what you chose as monster set, skills to look for are venomous claw, poison injection if not using S&B, dizzying swing (always move backwards when trying to hit enemy or use fossilize on them first), reverse slice, volatile armor, stampede for that 4 sec snare after using gap closer on an enemy, leap, dawnbreaker if playing in small scale or group and if you use S&B its almost no brainer to use spellwall ultimate and heroic slash.

Drink must be dubious camoran throne, and mundus for this setup is the one to give you more stamina regen.

On jewelry it is nice to have one damage and one stam cost redux, while 3rd enchantment is either shieldplay or another damage, depending on what is your back weapon (bow or S&B).

As sDK I would advise to remain mortal and not go WW or vampire. If you chose to be undead, vampire is better choice, because then you can slot mist for kiting enemies on resources or similar.
