@ZOS_GinaBruno said on PAX she has a surprise on Monday. ;)

    I dont see any suprise

Then you didnt look hard enough, more downtime to repair what was broken last week, forget whatever they broke this week for now :expressionless:

I would really like to know what takes 4 hours for 70 MB patch. Can we talk about this. I mean I'm really curious. Can someone answer this from a technical side @ZOS_GinaBruno so everyone will know and no more complaining?

Because maintenance is not always just a patch. Their is backend work as well that we don't see. Restarting of servers. Checking to make sure everything is running ok. What you see, is not always the only thing you get. And what looks like simple changes to us, is possibly not a simple change for them. Game development is not simple. And the size of a patch means nothing.

And why is it 3-4 hours every single week? And broken features after that. Lags, takes ages to fix things. Is it the game engine, net code? I'm not really familiar with these things that's why I'm asking.

I can't tell you, I don't work for them :P But I do know it is not a simple process. I won't make assumptions and play the blame game or anything like that. I have been around development enough to know that it sucks, no matter who you are. Every MMO I have ever played has issues. Technology is not perfect, and never will be.

They probably do a full backup of the database to DLT as well. That takes hours where I work
