Why STILL no chat filter on console?

Seriously now. Here from the start.

FOURTH anniversary now.

Still no chat filter on console - rendering chat whilst in any busy zone nigh on useless.

I don’t mean to be rude - but it has been long enough. Console revenue makes up a big slice.

It really is the least you can do.

FRONT BURNER IT.

It is not used as much. Since consoles have built in voice chat the need to regulate the text chat system just isn't important. Really the only people who use it on consoles are people looking for group, buying/selling, and those trying to play tactically and communicate with the whole alliance in campaigns.

And by the way the reason it isn’t used as much is because it is useless drivel, since nothing may be filtered out.

I'm confused. Since there is 100% chat filter on ps4 and xbox.... we have both text chat and voice....

Years later and we cannot simply turn off zone chat so that you can utilize guild chat, etc.

You know, the way it was on PC even before closed beta.

And so most folks simply turn off text chat entirely as it is as useless as this forum as far as signal to noise. Far worse actually.

At some point it becomes absurd that it isn’t addressed, and it has. Along with not being able to rebind anything and a whole list of things. But this one is particularly annoying because it is not a heavy GUI lift at all and would make a big difference in the usabiltiy of a feature they hyped.

And then left semi useless for years.

The difference is these forums are filled with PC users and console gamers have given up on sensible features being addressed. They simply take the crown store purchases and subs but really here - when is the last time console gui has had any real work done?

    That should change.

cuz there is nobody there to use it.

While i don’t use it much at all and didn’t even want it added I won’t go as far to say no one uses it but it’s not a really popular feature.

Arguments will be cause it wasn’t added at first and it’s not on by default and not user friendly but ....reality is the gameplay and controller only experience doesn’t make way for logical and continual typing.

What they need to do instead is focus on voice chat filters first. Far more people talk than they type just because of how the console works but my argument on this filtering is that they merge their group, guild, etc into the console features seemlessly. People on Xbox one at least, use the Xbox party chat text and talk along with clubs far more than any ingame text/chat features.

Then the text only filters could follow that format as ONE feature not two seperate things. The UI just needs to merge the PC and Console UI into ONE user interface that looks exactly the same with the only differences being that the Gamepad auto jumps the cursor to things and the PC still allows the mouse to move.

This also solves the PC add-UI issue for those who prefer using a Gamepad. One UI that has a setting to basically auto jump the cursor. Heck even let mouse users use this option if they choose where “.” Untoggles it just like the PC UI now.
