Performance on Xbox One is garbage. Will Xbox One X make a significant difference in performance?

On Xbox One I see buildings not loading in with walls missing or textures looking like they are from a 1990's game. FPS in cyrodil is essentially unplayable in prime time if you want to be competitive and be able to break free and animation cancel.

I have great wired internet, 100MB download/80upload. Performance in other games seems pretty standard.

Will the Xbox One X significantly limit how many times I load into some city and half the textures are crap, or how many times the game will go into a loading screen mid fight in cyrodil? or in general the FPS problems in cyrodil?

I hate to have to get an Xbox One X just for this game, but I really do enjoy playing ESO. Honestly I wanted to switch over the PS4 since they have way better games, but ESO accounts don't cross over platforms.

I have an xbox one X and things look beautiful with the 4k textures and I find in situations with lots of players im able to keep fighting without enduring a slideshow of the battle but it still lags. However there is still lag and I notice when looking at players the game will take some time to catchup and load in the proper textures if I just entered the area where they are, you know that weird blurry texture.

On the note of loading in cities I rarely have that happen.

If you're looking to escape lag entirely which I feel you never will on a console for this game. Save money and go PC. sure it will probably cost twice as much if not more than an X or 4pro.

I was in the same position as you with too much time put into the game to want to make a platform transfer. So I traded my OG Xbox One for the X and the difference in visuals and especially draw distance make it feel like a completely different game.

I can't speak much to Cyrodiil but in traveling to the main trading cities I have to wait for the traders and other players to pop in. With regard to graphics I have no issues except occasionally Hew's Bane but that place was always problematic, otherwise things look great.

My internet speeds (50/10) aren't as good as yours however I'm using an external 7200rpm hard drive (same drive as on my OG Xbox One) so that may make some difference too.

Finally ZOS did a presentation at PAX East yesterday and said performance improvements are coming for all platforms with the Summerset update in May/June not sure if you want to wait that long though.

When Clockwork released they implemented a new pipeline for loading content that made things amazing. Only problem was that it introduced infinite loading screens and was reverted to the old system. The draw distance is still amazing on the One X, biggest difference by far, but you still deal with npc's, players, and textures not loading until you stand in front of them for a bit.

woah the draw distance is bigger???? holy crap that is one of my biggest gripes with the game.

Do you know if there are any pics showing the difference somewhere?

Also, thanks for your post. This helps me a ton:)

I'm currently running on an Xbox One S but running 1G upload and 1G download and also have 2TB external SSD and I have NOTHING other than the Xbox hooked up to the Internet and I play just fine also no lag and crashing "other than the buzz home screen crash" and still great game play in end game pve content as well as prime time pvp in vivec with 50-100 man zergs

I have two mates who bought an Xbox One X during the holidays and they told me it wasn't worth it. They said (paraphrased) "If there was to be a change, well the change is/far too unnoticeable for me", "I can't really feel a difference, still crashing/10FPS during most crowded keep fights".
This discussion happened last year so my memory of what they said isn't entirely accurate but basically that was what I remembered i.e no point in buying it because there wasn't a major/significant difference for it to be noticeable.

My boy @ZOS_Brianwheeler (fav ZOS employee) mentioned some changes to PvP that will impact performance so maybe the changes will cascade with the not significant change when purchasing the Xbox One X to be something better.

Performance today has been noticeably bad for me. Trouble logging in, trouble getting groups, lagging out of combat, just bad all around.

Well they are probably upping the graphics requirements at the same time so in effect the performance "improvements" just keep you at a decently flat rate of suckage.

I played ESO first on PS4 and upgraded last year to a PS4 Pro. The water reflections look much better but that's it. Still massive frame drops and textures/characters not loading or just randomly popping up.

I know that's not Xbox One X experience but I wanted to share my experience with "improved" consoles.

I only have a 1080p screen and no HDR, here are some screen captures from within the game at the Brass Fortress, CWC, Shornhelm and Mournhold. Compare them to what you see on your screen but for me the world seems much more real now.

Here's an album of the images as well as the individual screenshots

Have a One X, yes, it gets better. Y'know the crashes you get cause the game stops loading textures in big cities? That goes away, cities always load completely and no crash now.

Looking forward to this Spring Update when Xbox supports 1440p.

Agree with the rest. Had an Xbox one s, looked great with the hdr support. Then I got an x and wow. The game is amazing. And the game does in fact perform a ton better which I didn’t expect.

The upgraded ram processor and graphics chip make eso one of the best looking games out there. No lie :)
