Coldharbour should be the default opening/tutorial IMO

liamcatsmithb14_ESO
Just for consistency. If not, I wouldn't mind a choice of Coldharbour, Morrowind or Summerset for tutorial after character creation.

I agree with you. I think they just want it to be all the same faction for the start now a days but it just seems off now to start in Vvardenfell instead of the old starter zones.

    OHHHHHHH

I like the choice idea based on what you have purchased, make it like the start another life mod in other games:

-I was captured by crazy cultists (coldharbor)
-I was on a ship destined for morrowind (morrowind)
-I was invited to summerset (summerset)

    etc.

lore wise default zone should be the coldharbour prison, but they want their chapters to be played, thats why you start in morrowind atm and it will be summerset soon.
but since morrowind it feels just so damn weird to be released from slave hunters just to go to your alliance start zone, then get punched in the cace to wake up in the coldharbour prison.....without a soul, where actually the main quest starts. before morrowind it made sense to wake up there as an empty body, your soul taken hostage by a daedric prince. it just makes more sense, since you actually wake up there, not knowing what time, day or year it is, like after a very long sleep. then you come back to tamriel for adventures. now its getting punched and wake up the day after, as if you just were drinking too much and your soul was stolen. but nothing else happened with the alliance starter zone meanwhile.

I also would like Coldharbor to be the starting tutorial, and ZOS can change the point where the tutorial dumps you off, like Morrowind or Summerset. That fixes the awkwardness of doing quests that assume you dont have a soul if you haven't done the main quest tutorial.

I'd also like a Cadwell's Bronze to include your faction's questlines.

This is exactly what should happen! Although the Coldharbour one should have a little note saying it is the original tutorial...

(Also make the other tutorials that you didnt choose available as quests)

I agree. The story doesn't make sense otherwise.

There is a very clear narrative chronology from base game to Orsinium to Morrowind to Clockwork City and now to Summerset.

That would break the tradition. ES games have most always started with you being a prisoner or refugee of some sort.

Actually, starting in Coldharbour fully conforms with the tradition of escalating physical danger for TES protagonists.

In Morrowind, you've been released from prison.
In Oblivion, you've been thrown in prison.
In Skyrim, you've been sentenced to be killed.
In ESO, you've actually been killed.

We should be able to choose which tutorial we want to start in. it would just be another simple selection below your race/alliance choice

I think having the choice of tutorial would be the best of all situations. I know Coldharbour is meant to be the main one, but kudos to ESO for letting new players get into the new content, even if it does not exactly fit with lore.

I do think they should somehow keep that cut scene of Mannimarco killing you. Thats cool.

    I totally agree!

Now that I own Morrowind. I hate that I can no longer skip the cold harbor tutorial. I HAVE to talk to the Hooded Figure and play through it with every new character or I can't start the main story and I'm so sick of it.

I agree, too. It's nice to have an alternate tutorial, but too confusing for new people, who then don't know how to start the main quest-line.
I loved the Morrowind tutorial, though. Great story. :)

ESO being an mmo"rpg", this seriously needs to be an option asap. I can't fathom how this was an oversight.
All over Tamriel, theres a sudden spike in Bosmers getting caught for their crimes. A sad day indeed... #FightForYourRite Give Bosmers back our stealth!

That makes too much sense. They'd never go for it.

Along the same lines the Summerset and MW tutorials should be an option for any character the first time they go to those 2 zones if for no reason other than to stop whatsheraname from spamming about that missing skill point issue :)

100% agreed. I hope they will go back to this sometime, maybe next big content patch. If they want people to be able to start out in the new zones then they can just add an option just like the "you've already done this, do you want to skip the tutorial" option after that first time.

I like being able to choose when I begin stories, but I agree that there should be a dropdown menu in character creation for where (and if) you want to start in one.

This has been annoying me since Morrowind release. This game's main story quest line is being completely thrown to the side. I would not mind if you were given an option to choose if you would like to start in one of the new chapters or in the base game main story when creating a new char.

I am pleased I played this game from Beta because now with One Tamriel ,it is a10 year olds game for the most part. PVP excluded. Continuity on game start has also gone to the proverbial Dogs. This is largely because whilst the original design team had a plan, the current one do not. Well no plan other than how to make money f.
