Hi all, I'll get right to the point. I've decided to get back into ESO with the upcoming Summerset expansion and want to know what to expect. I haven't played for almost two years (or at least sometime after the release of Orsinium). I've done some reading and seen all the mini DLCs added (I plan on getting ESO+) and also read about the Morrowind and Summerset expansions. Are there any other major changes I should be aware of, or just simple tips for a returning player.

Really nothing has changed. Still the same ole cyrodil. the new dungeons have more 1 shot mechanics but its still basically the same dungeons, Stretches of trash mobs followed by a boss.

Nightblades are still king at killing stuff and have a simple cloak, dodge roll defensive mechanic which makes them very easy to play.

Theres a new class but its behind a pay wall and its not really that interesting.

After Orsinium, well you have one tamriel, you can go everythere, the entire world scale to you like in Orsinium.
    This is the fundamental change.
If you preorder you also get Morrowind bundled, plenty of content there, you might want an month with eso+ for the new dungeons. and CWC.
Would recomend returning before it, so much to do, so little time
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I am planning on preordering the Summerset upgrade to get Morrowind, thanks for the suggestions!

    If before One Tamriel:
    • All of ESO Tamriel is accessible from start (except for DLC zones and Morrowind unless you have ESO+ or purchased DLC or purchased Morrowind Chapter)
    • DLC's now include Imperial City, Orsinium/Wrothgar (Orcs), Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, , Clockwork City (Sotha Sil) content and also first new Chapter - Morrowind map content. Also several Dungeon DLCs - Shadows of the Hist, Horns of the Reach, Dragon Bones.
    • There is now Player Housing, Duels, and 4-man PVP
    • All players of every alliance can play together on all content except PVP in Cyrodiil and Imperial City.
    • Every area is battle-leveled - your character will be boosted at lower levels (primary stats) and it will fade as you reach the same level as the NPCs. You have to keep skills/gear leveled to compensate as it drops off.
    • Your gear stats are also battle-leveled, and if not kept at your character level, it loses stats/effectiveness.
    • Every NPC is Champion Point (CP) level 160. That is the current NPC base level of damage dealt, damage mitigation and Health/Stamina/Magicka stats. The game makes many NPC stronger than that depending on what content they are in like dungeon bosses, overland World Bosses, group dungeons and 8-12 player Trial dungeons.
    • No level gates for any quest. Every quest is CP160 with CP160 NPC.
    • Skeevers have 13K+ HP. Mudcrabs have 31K+ HP. Crocs have 47K and simple trolls have 108K+. Bone-colossus basic quest boss can pop out with 250K+ HP.
    • All XP is locked to character level - you will get the same base XP for the same NPC no matter where you go and it will only scale higher as your character level rises. You can get more XP on top of base by using more combat skills during the fight (blocking, dodging etc).
    L50 CP300 - Skeever 88 XP - Alit 1836 XP - Thunderbug 1836 XP
    L30 CP300 - Skeever 7 XP - Alit 169 XP - T-Bug 169 XP - Humanoid 169 XP
    L4 CP300 - Skeever 2 XP - Alit 45 XP - T-Bug 45 XP
    • All gear from loot now drops at your current character level L1-50/CP10-160, everywhere.
    • Overland Bosses are now scaled to 2~4 man content
    • Craglorn is majority solo content with 2~4 after that.
    • Crafting and leveling mechanics have not changed much except for some changes to node scaling and writs and furniture.
    • You now receive leveling rewards for every character that is still leveling L1-50. They are not retroactive.

And yes the champion system who replaced the VR levels, slower to level, but front loaded and better all alt share it abd all above level 50 contribute to it, below level 50 alts can use the CP but don't generates.
This might be inn then you left?
Grinding just make you go in circles.

    Welcome back!

First thing you should probably do is level s new character to get level 18 reward which is 30 slot storage chest (furniture) that can placed in your home. If you purchase with crowns, telvar stones or writ voucher any storage chest you will not be able to collect this reward later.

You will also have quest which give a small house for free. Look into Crown store for quest starter. You can teleport to your home for free and also place your storage chest there. It is Collectables so you can have copies of your chests in all your houses in the future.

If I've already got a character above 18 (main is at 22, don't wanna start over necessarily), would I still be able to get the chest?

You'll have to roll a new character for that. Characters level really fast for the first 20 levels now.

Ah alright, I guess I'll roll a Warden after getting Morrowind and do that then. Thank you!

Hmm I was noon two years ago :'( We never meet?

    So two year recap

Classes have gone came in power gaps but it never changes. Somebody finds a way to break the rules! Overall in past year they been working on play as you want promise. I speak in regards to combat.

You can find people play any role in dungeons at least. Veteran trials have small variation but it won't be resloved till we have group finder once again for it. Alliance war group finder is still broken but nobody remembers it exists.

Some small things in regards to group play. They fixed synergies @ZOS_RichLambert much love and who ever else was in on. Shards and orbs give you magicka or stamina depends on maximum. Though shards gives half of the other. Storm annotach got recently buffed and one of the two morphs is a good choice. If you see it as dps synergize it. It's 25% more damage for 8 secs. It also gives pet extra damage. Speaking of that Sorc pets are really a thing now .. like no really they heal and dps... maybe tank next patch. Just think before you use synergies too. It has two sec cooldown.(use orbs and attonach right away ish)

There's a level advisor... but well nobody trusts it. Sorry zos, it's true. It's a good start though.

Battlegrounds are easy and way to make ap. Cydrolli hasn't changed much if any at all in two years... except the deer. They are working on fixes for it but it's monster issue. Imperial city usually is dead so easy way to make gold too and level up. Just be careful.

More things, Thieves make a lot of money makes you be wonder what guards actually do.

    Most important thing!

    You can't die to murcab!
