Master Crafter Title

With the addition of jewelry crafting coming in summerset I think it's the perfect time to add this title to the game.

The requirements can be debated, but i.m.o. It should require that the character knows every trait for every item. I can't decide if motif knowledge should be a requirement; I have every page collected, but I know most people don't. If it is required it would make the title very rare and a true achievement, but I could understand wanting to make this achievement attainable for the majority of crafters.

"Every motif page" is a really nebulous requirement, as motifs are added with pretty much every patch.

Every base game motif (basic blue racials, Ancient Elf, Daedric, Imperial, Dwemer, Primal, Barbaric....maybe Glass, Akaviri, and Ebony) would make sense. Or "X amount of motifs," which would, of course, be gradually easier and easier to reach as the total number of available motifs increased.

Or keep "Master Crafter" title linked to trait knowledge+skill ine mastery, and add something like a "Stylist" for motif knowledge?

Yes this could be broken down into two different titles, totally agree. The term master crafter has a grey interpretation right now, it could go either way.

Master to me means every trait unlocked and skills maxed, or to be able to make the highest level gear in every craft having Motifs lumped in here though would make it more rare than getting Emperor

Somewhat agree. I'm not into titles so really no skin off my back, but it seems motif knowledge would be part of it. Honestly the crafting is only time consuming. Ive probably spent just as much time farming motifs, if not more.

The only problem is they will continue to add motifs. Unless it was the same as master angler. So that only those styles in the base game counted. I consider a master crafter as one who also knows all the styles, one stop shop kind of deal.
  • mike_skleinub17_ESO
True, but to have ALL crafting maxed on one character takes dedication and a somewhat lot of time. Motifs are constantly being added, and some only exist for a very short time. The base game motifs would make sense though.

A 'Master Crafter' title should only take into account the 'Rare Style Master' achievement and learning all 9 traits. With new styles being added there is no way of ever knowing all of them - it only lasts until the next new ones come out.

You could tie in a number of items harvested/refined/crafted/improved/deconstructed, etc., to expand it a bit but learning all motifs, designs, recipes, etc., is a moving goalpost.

They could make such a title if it was about having all the traits learned, crafting abilities maxed and, say, 20 styles on top of the base game motifs learned.

I'd like to see the Master Crafter title be a bit like the Master Angler. You get it for completing all the base goals. In this case trades, traits and motifs.
After that each subsequent DLC or 'Chapter' would add an additional title on top of that. You would have had to complete the base MC achievement as one of the prereqs of the next lvl MC. It would be named for the DLC. ie: IC MC, or HB MC, GC MC, etc. Each one to be added in the order of release. In order to have Morrowind Master Crafter Title, you would have had to complete each of the lower ones first.

Would LOVE this title to in the game.

Since I use essentially the same name for all my guys, I like choosing titles that mean something to that particular character. Wanted a crafter title for my crafter for so long.

This is a good idea, too.

ZOS would simply update the motif achievement requirement when they add new motifs to the master writ tables.

    Yes, yes it is!

The only motif I'm currently missing (but am working diligently on it) is the new Worm Cult motif only available from Anniversary boxes (or buying at Guild Stores from someone who got it in an anniversary box!).

There should be a whole host of crafting titles, they are very sorely missing from the game, for some unimaginable reasons. Why doesn't having all alch achievements give me a master alchemist title? Where are the chefs and brewers? Heck I'd settle for "Hash slinger" or "Chief cook and bottle washer" but there should be some titles related to the various crafting skills at least, the fact that there are none is a very weird oversight.

Jewelry crafting should also be included.

When people post in chat looking for a master crafter they usually want someone who can craft a 6+ trait set. So I think that traits researched should also be included.

This is a great opportunity to include this for sure!

I do agree though that putting motifs is going to be a little too hard. Maybe the base motifs and all crafting skills (including Jewelry) and traits researched.

More than that it will just become outdated basically immediately.

I think a Master Crafter title for all base-game (at original release) components would be the best way to go.

    Requirements:
    - 9 traits researched for all professions
    - All consumable achievements (minus those added with Homestead/furnishings)
    - Level 50 in all crafting skills
    - All base-game motifs learned (this really isn't that much)
    - Basic racials
    - Ancient Elf, Barbaric, Daedric, Primal, Soul Shriven
    - Glass
    - Were the following base game at release, or added later? Akaviri, Dominion/Covenant/Pact, Dwemer, Imperial,
Mercenary, Yokudan? If not, then they would be excluded from the achievement requirements.
    - All recipes learned, up to Psijic Ambrosia. (Not to include event recipes or ones added post-release.)

I'm sure I'm missing one or two other major points, but that would follow the same treatment as Master Angler, where new stuff added with DLCs wouldn't require a complete rework of the requirements, but could be installed as a standalone achievement specific to each zone/DLC.

Base game motifs is sufficient or completely remove motifs. Motifs already have rare style master achievement and nothing to do with crafting. Same goes with furnishing. Master crafter should be able to craft anything required for core gameplay. Anything more than that is overkill is just abuse.

Following would be sufficient. Only these are important and mandatory for core gameplay.

    - 9 traits researched for all professions
    - All consumable achievements (minus those added with Homestead/furnishings)
    - Level 50 in all crafting skills
    - All base-game racial motifs learned
    - All recipes learned, up to Psijic Ambrosia. (Not to include event recipes or ones added post-release.)

Two new crafting titles "Style Master" and "Grand Master Crafter" from the PTS patch notes:
    New Achievements
We've added a new series of achievements and a new meta-achievement.
    • "Fledgling Style Master", "Budding Style Master", and "True Style Master" require 10, 25, and 50 Motifs fully learned, respectively. Completing the True Style Master achievement will earn you the title, "Style Master".
    • Completing the "Grand Master Crafter" meta-achievement requires mastery of all tradeskills, including Jewelry Crafting, and will grant you the long-sought-after title, "Grand Master Crafter" as well as a new Outfit Style for one-handed weapons, the Skyforge Smith Hammer.

my main crafter has every motif in the game learned (up to this point), is a full 9-trait crafter, knows every food/drink recipe in the game, and has about 50% of the in-game furnishing plans learned. I also have 21 alt characters that have (or are working towards) 8-trait crafter status, with all the base-game motifs (other than Imperial) learned, as well as the cheaper purple motifs (like Mercenary, Assassins League, Hollowjack, etc). It just takes time, and dedication to get to that point!
