What are useless sets from trials?

Why doesn't it work. Could it work better if...?

A lot of sets from trials are literally just bad versions of other sets.

For example,

Quick Serpent:
2 Pieces: Adds x Weapon Critical
3 Pieces: Adds x Max Stamina
4 Pieces: Adds x Max Stamina
5 Pieces: Reduces the Stamina costs of feats by 8%. When you kill an enemy, gain 75% increased Movement Speed for 3 seconds.

Vicious Serpent:
2 Pieces: Adds x Weapon Critical
3 Pieces: Adds x Weapon Critical.
4 Pieces: Reduces the Stamina costs of feats by 8%. When you kill an enemy, gain 75% increased Movement Speed for 3 seconds.
5 Pieces: Adds x Weapon Damage. When you kill an enemy you restore x Stamina.

Notice how the second one has almost the same stat boosts and bonuses as the first one? The difference is: you restore an amount of stamina (massive, like 3k) every time you kill an enemy.

If sets like Celerity are reworked to not be nerfed versions of other sets like VO then they might see some use.

Another example of this is Wise Mage vs. Infallible Mage:

Wise Mage:
2 items: Adds x Spell Critical
3 items: Adds x Spell Critical
4 items: Adds x Spell Damage
5 items: Enemies you damage with fully-charged Heavy Attacks are afflicted with Minor Vulnerability for 10 seconds, increasing their damage taken by 8%.

2 items: Adds x Spell Critical
3 items: Gain Minor Slayer at all times, increasing your damage done to Dungeon and Trial Monsters by 5%.
4 items: Adds x Spell Damage
5 items: Adds x Spell Critical
5 items: Your fully-charged Heavy Attacks deal an additional x damage. Enemies you damage with fully-charged Heavy Attacks are afflicted with Minor Vulnerability for 10 seconds, increasing their damage taken by 8%

Again, you get really similar buffs, but the second set gives you a bonus to heavy attack damage that the first set doesn't have.

One players "useless" is another players BiS.
Just because *you* can't figure out how to make a set work doesn't mean it's useless ...
