Profanity Filter

Is it just me or does the profanity filter need some twqeaking?

I realise you can turn it off, however when I am sending messages to other people, they don;t necessarily have it turned off.

I sent a message to my Guild chat saying Fishing Group. The ng Gr was blocked by the filter.

I understand that it is picking up the possibility of the intent being insulting, but seriously, all this filter is doing, is teaching people how to insult. I would never call somebody what it is insinuating, but I also would never have considered spelling it like that to insult someone either.

Can we have some common sense applied to this filter please, or perhaps an option in Guild Permissions to Not Filter Guild Messages. Even if this was a permission applied to different ranks.

As I am the Social Officer for my guild, I am sending out notifications to advise of events weekly at the very least, and several times on the day of an event. It would be nice to have an option in the guild settings to say we trust this person to behave appropriately in chat, and if they don't, they are in breach of our guild rules anyway, so they will ose their permissions, if not be removed from the guild completely.

The profanity filter is pretty silly. Though, a lot of games now and back had their own little incidental unintentional censorship.
If they can fix it, I doubt they will. Most everyone turns the filter off anyways.

On Fifa, if you wanted to chose a team with Brazil kit you would have to change the abbreviation. Apparently the shortened Bra is an offensive word, lol

I played a game where pocketwatch was censored because of the incidental placement of letters in the middle.
With WoW, there was a certain recipe that would get auto-blocked on the forums because of letter placement as well. It's understandable to have a profanity filter but to be honest, with a rated M game, it seems redundant to have it in game. Forums I can understand though.

I made a new char, and did not disable the filter. I was talking about the new expansion, don't remember the exact words I used. But when I hit enter, a bunch of ***'s appeared in between 2 of the words. I wrote down what had been starred out, and it was the word "tinge" Not sure how this is a bad word that needs filtered. There should be an account wide setting to disable the filter, so that you just have to do it once, and it effects all characters.

"put on" was filtered for me on a new character. It wasn't until quite a bit later that I realized why. Apparently we are filtering in Spanish now too.

yeah happens a few time that the filter miss-catches something because it links parts of 2 words together - it's that Smart...for example if your write something like "AS Sad earlier" - A S S it might block it etc...but it doesn't happen too often

There was a thread a while back and yes it really needs someone to take a look and work stop the stupid filters.

You can't say "Freestyle" either because "estyle" is filtered, the only reference I could find to it being bad was an urban dictionary reference (which took effort to find).
