Mist Form Suggestion

A while back, ZOS recognized the need to incorporate the dynamic of dodging and streak to have an increased cost every time you use them back to back. I was wondering how it would work to incorporate that same kind of thing for mist form. Mist form is far more powerful than either of those two so why not? It is being far more abused than either of those skills ever were in PVP and does a lot more for the person using it. It is a rapids, damage mitigation, and damage dealer all rolled into one and can be used back to back. Not only that, while you cannot be healed per se, you can definitely pop a potion during the mist form and gain all the benefits of that simultaneously. Is this something that ZOS would even consider?

It's been suggested before. The forum hated it, ZOS left no comment.

It's not going to be changed so put on Desert Rose and join in on the tree dance.

Mist is bad enough though. Unlike streak/dodge it's 4s you cannot heal, cast and lose a massive chunk of mag. 6K mag per use on my end. DR only restores 2.4k. So still a heavy drain.

Its pretty awful for mobility too. Takes longer to get from A-B than the other methods. You can never escape with mist unless it's a 1v1. And you can still be rooted and snared.

I only ever use it as an upgraded, but more costly block. Where damage incoming is too heavy or dangerous to block. I.e. Meteor/bow ult/soul assault. Because if I get CC'd or snared then I am in trouble.

    • You already lose Mag Regen when using it.
    • It's short duration.
    • It requires Vamp, and the downsides thereof.
    • It still adhere's to collision, FFS.

Mist is much worse than streak or roll because while it doesn't have increased cost it:

    is much slower than streak
can still be snared through by gap closers/poisons
cannot be healed through like dodge roll or streak
cannot regen for 4 sec and has a higher base cost than streak or roll
gets cancelled if you switch bars during it
requires Vampirism which brings its own set of checks/balances that may or may not appeal to you

IMO it needs a major rework, you can give it stacking cost and nerf the reduced damage but make it allow for healing/regen/skill usage during it so it is like shuffle/forward momentum and then we can talk.

yea, as others have said above, the mag regen being turned off is equal to having the cost increased like streak does.

If you could get mag regen in mist, then you could look into a cost increase mechanic, but otherwise it's very balanced.

"Abused"? Everything is always "abused" isn't it? FFS.

Your 24 man raid has to wait a big longer to zerg down the player mist forming for their lives. They can't cast skills or heal whilst in mist. It's a fair skill.

If anything they need to buff Mist Form by not allowing gap closer snare to affect it. Besides, whats the point of having a fast phased resource management oriented combat if skills are gonna have stacked cost penalty?
Too many people have been suggesting this lately.

I'm only asking because I watched a video of a guy who was mist forming almost nonstop through enemy players. I'm not saying everyone does it, but when I see it happening nonstop back to back, I must admit that I wonder about that. I'm not saying nerf it per se, but wondering what the options are if it is so easily used nonstop when other similar skills are not so easily used in the same way, and they don't incorporate quite so many benefits that mist form does.

Theres always that 1 guy who does something to extreme, putting everything into 1 aspect of gameplay (perma tanking, 1 shotting with bow etc). We cant nerf the average player by looking at an extreme build.
Also it would help if you show us the video. @Earthewen

If it were just one, I wouldn't wonder. But it isn't. I think we know it happens quite frequently. I'm not trying to start a fight here. I'm just asking questions how, if it works the way you guys say it does, how does a person pop it back to back for such a long time?

Just a friendly reminder mist was nerfed in 1.1 when it was actually OP and had a 60% increased speed, just wanted to bring a little retrospect when it comes to asking for fundamental design changes. It was first in terms of mobility to get nerfed, then streak, then dodge roll.

Retrospect and foresight is especially important when asking ZOS for changes, because they'll change things even if its a bad idea, unfortunately I think this counts as a bad idea.

I would be more inclined to agree with your disposition if it regards to attacking you at the same time; but in this case while misting, dodge rolling, streaking; they're not attacking they're on the defense.
