For those of you wondering how to map buttons on ps4, simply go to your ps4 settings, navigate to accessibility, then select custom button assignments and you can completely remap your ps4 controller however you want.

This is done in ps4 settings, not in ESO settings.

    Check my previous post.

Also note that you can set accessibility to your quick menu (long press on ps4 button) so you can quickly enable and disable custom button assignments without having to remap every time.

This is a game changer for me. I had never even thought about the fact that I cant move my character at the same time as bar swapping. It created a pause. R3 bar swap is so much better.

I use Left Arrow (<-) on D-Pad. Completed all content in the game and have never had issues  You just gotta get used to it first.

Same. Sometimes I even reach across with my right thumb to swap bars. People think I'm a weirdo for that.

Whatever feels natural. As long as you can reach the button immediately when you want to (and with 100% consistency), the button configuration is good.

I honestly don’t know how people use the base button configuration. Having the same button for Jump/Interact would be so annoying lol.

Even if you get used to it somehow it's absolutely the worst way to weapon swap. If you've never felt how genuine and flawless you can use weapon swap when it's on an additional back paddle on your controller you don't know what you're missing out. You don't have to move any finger cause your finger is always on that position. You just need a little pressure and weapon swap. That's so much better than having to change your hand/finger position all the time.

Never said that it's not possible to do all the content with <- weapon swap. But a player that has the same skill as you but has his weapon swap on an additional button would always beat you.

Can someone politely explain how it is you remap buttons on ps4? Unless you are talking about remapping them at the console level beyond eso.

Nope, ESO doesn't have custom mapping on console.
What's being talked about is going into ps4 settings, going into the accessibility menu, and customizing the buttons there.
If someone is trying to say they are doing this inside of ESO, that is false. Cannot do it inside the game itself.

I know when the game first came out you could change it in game but I'd have to check now to see if it is still there. I remember it being there because I didn't like that "X" button was the same button for loot and jumping but I couldn't find another option I liked so I changed it back. I also had it configured like Skyrim for a bit and didn't like that either. Since then I've kept it on the default map.

This is very nice but it seems like you must keep the cable on all the time - wired controllers are no option for me. Don't know why nobody is capable of creating a wireless/wired controller like the Elite for the PS4...

I just don’t think that’s true. I hold the controller in such a way where I do not have to move my hand to swap weapons, similar to having a back pedal button like you’re talking about. As long as that’s the case, I’m as effective as I can be.

You're using the default button for weapon swap iirc, don't you? If so how do you press the button without moving your hand or without moving your fingers away from the pad that's for movement?

Yup. To be specific, I use “Template B” as a PS4 player.

I use either my thumb (normally on left stick aka movement button), the middle of my index finger, or the top of my index finger to bar swap. I subconsciously do it based on what is most convenient and won’t impede my gameplay at all.

Idk what to say lol. It feels as natural to me as pressing anything else on the controller. Absolutely zero effect on my gameplay. For a game like Call of Duty there is a real advantage in having a back pedal button, but on ESO I assure you it would be impossible for me to be more effective.

I totally get your point though. It’s just that the way I play and hold the controller, I have zero issues.
