I think it is slightly disingenuous to use it to advocate jewelrycrafting as a base game feature as the when and how portions of "buying" aren't specified.
For instance, responses that fall under "Yes, cause reasons" could fall under the range of
a) love the zone, support the devs, preorder anyways, collectors edition/physical edition to boot,
b) no preorder but buy at launch once all information about the other content has been released and tested,
c) buy months down the line after release when the price of Summerset has gone down,
d) or technically getting it for "free" with the next chapter.
These scenarios could represent the perceived worth of Summerset with said change.
One could say the original point was that buying it is still buying it. However I say this is an inaccurate gauge of support for the position OP is obviously suggesting, like the inverse situation of those who wanted jewelry crafting to be base game but have bought or will buy summerset anyways.
As for my own standing, I have preordered Summerset and would have if jewelrycrafting wasn't tied to it, but only because I am a massive sucker for almost anything Altmer and Dunmer themed. There are people out there who hate Altmer themed stuff or find overland content unsatisfying. My satisfaction with the cost and value of the chapter would be negatively impacted if the only other feature apart from what normally comes with new zones is a skill line.
Therefore, yeah would buy, but because theme of the chapter resonates with me. Whether jewelrycrafting is tied to it would be a "is or is not" thing from the announcement beginning, not because I hope the current position will change. Do not consider my statements an endorsement of unlinking jewelrycrafting from the chapter to be rolled into the base game update.
I will buy each chapter on principle of supporting the game if there is something in it for me. Summerset was a borderline case.
I cant keep up with the PvE and am not interested in AD storylines as a loyal Pact player. That said i didn't play Morrowind i got it for BG.
The only two DLC worth it purely for content doe me are Imp Coty and Orsinium.
Is Sunmerset didn't have something for me at all i wouldn't have bought it.
ZOS are 100% right to lock jewelry crafting in with the chapter in my view.
Yewelry crafting is of no importance to me, there aren't any crafted sets I would even consider wearing.
And even if, I have a dropped set with golden yewelry that I can put there instead. I'm looking forward to upgrading my ancient grace yewelry, but it's only for cosmetic reasons.
