Experience diminishing with experience scroll

I'm CP 210, ESO-Plus and tried a crownstore scroll of 150%-XP gain and finished some open missions.
In the beginning everthing went as expected: instead of 166k XP i got 250k and so on. But later, xp-gain diminished. In the end, every quest only awarded 19,5k xp (instead of f.e. 49k+ without the scroll).
Even after the scroll was used up, the effect was still present for the whole day: for daily crafting quest, I only got 866 instead of 3,3k.

Support says, it can't answer questions about game mechanics.
This looks like, there is a daily cap for experience gain, which shouldn't be there? Does anybody know, what went wrong?

Is it possible that your enlightenment wore off?

Since you were still gaining (just not as much) i don't think its a matter of a hard cap of exp gain.

Enlightment requires being logged off for more than one day? That was not the case.

in the end, I was "loosing" instead of gaining. Much less xp than without the scroll.

It does not. You get 400K enlightenment every day, but balance is capped at 4.8M (i.e. 12 days worth of). For me it happens around 3:00pm (may be off by an hour due to time change).

On Mac/PC, you can see you enlightenment by going to character sheet ("C"), then hovering mouse over the XP bar.

You get Enlightenment every 24 hours based on the time you hit level 50 on your first character.

First item: Your enlightenment "reload" is based on the exact time of day you first hit level 50 for the first time on any character(IE Champion Point level). This will be different for virtually everyone. Mine is somewhere around 23:40 EST. Daylight savings time will change your reload time +/- an hour, as the server doesn't adjust to your time zone if you observe the practice.

Enlightenment gives 400% xp gains, which is factored off your base xp gain.

2nd Item: Going from 166k to 250k is only a 50% gain. [250-166=84; 84/166=0.51) So make sure your scrolls are truly 150%.

3rd item: Based off that fact. A quest offering 19.5k with a 50% scroll and no enlightenment would have a base xp of 13k. If you take that 13k quest with enlightenment and no scroll you would have 13k *4=52k which gets us close to your claim of 49k+ without the scroll.

If we go further and assume for a second that the scroll is giving you a bonus of 50% of the (base + ESO+ xp), then the actual base xp for the quest would be 11.8k. Enlightenment is multiplied to the base xp before ESO+ is factored in I believe, so the enlightenment xp + ESO+ xp would look like this (11.8 *4) + (11.8 * 0.1) = 48.4k

    Looking at your daily crafting writ xp we see 866 instead of your assumed 3.3k. (787 *4) + (787 *0.1) = 3.2k.

TL;DR - You sir, have simply become a victim of an exhausted enlightenment pool.

    Edit for clarity.

You burned all your enlightenment. That's all that happened.

ok, I see. So there's not such a big use for 150%-scrolls.
Unless you are slow in questing ;)

And I don't need to save 2 Millions to pay for a aetheric cipher :)

I still use scrolls quite a bit, especially on Sub-50 characters I'm trying to level. The enlightenment only applies to your characters who have reached level 50, so you won't see that 400% xp gain on any new characters until they reach level 50 regardless if you have enlightenment built up or not.

You are able to see how much enlightenment you have left from your character screen. At the tab where you can see your attributes and the xp bar, there will be a note saying, "You will gain the next 250,500 experience at an increased rate." Or something along those lines. And again, you will gain 400,000 enlightenment xp every 24 hours, which stacks for a maximum of 12 days (4.8M).

Scrolls can also be useful if you play a lot and burn through your enlightenment quickly. Or if you can't play much at all and are worried that you'll reach the 4.8M cap and be losing some. Pop a potion with enlightenment right before you battle the final boss on your daily random dungeon and watch the xp pour in!

Scrolls are just as useful with Enlightenment as without. You're still earning at an increased rate, and you get Enlightenment regardless. You will still be earning CP with Enlightenment and a scroll at a much faster rate than without a scroll, and when you're out of Enlightenment, you're still earning CP faster than if you had no Enlightenment and no scroll. There's no benefit to "banking" Enlightenment, as you'll earn more CP just playing normally. It's a catch-up mechanic for people who don't play every day, not a leveling booster.

Though, yes, I tend to use scrolls on alts that haven't hit 50 yet, since I find that to be a more beneficial use of extra XP.
