Why do dyes come out as different colors?

Apologies if there's a dead horse about, but I've been away for a while and I thought this issue would have been fixed by now.

I understand quality of fabric makes a difference, but with Rubedo leather, that's about as good as I can get. Yet, when I apply Senche Orange, I get anything but Senche Orange!

It's also mind-boggling that wearing two pieces of the same armor group yields completely different color hues. If I put Senche Orange on my jerkin, it comes out as a dark red with weird tint I cannot describe as a color. When I apply it to guards, I get an offish orangish red tinty barf color which doesn't represent any shade of orange I know of.

Oddly, if I use Syffram Red (sp?), I actually get the orange color I'm looking for, despite the redish tint I see in sunlight.

I understand lighting at a crafting station, er, outfit station can affect the look initially, but I always go outside and turn my character around to see the various shades.

Don't even get me started with head gear. I don't think any color other than Coldharbour Black applies correctly. :'(

Thoughts on this or am I just being cynical (probably the latter, but hey... I want my character looking good).

    1. Light hits objects differently
    2. Materials take dye differently
    3. Some pieces don’t allow you to die what parts you think you’re dyeing
    4. There are bugs that were never addressed within some motif
    5. The design changes that occurred after the first year impacts this too, which some would say is lazy development

Also, they are not really Dyes in the classic sense, in that they replace or mask colors. More so they are Tints and Filters that pass through underlying colors.

Also, for whatever reason, Ruby Mats just don't follow any logic when it comes to dye applications. You want truer colors, you have to use lower level, by that I mean L1 to L50 materials. Use the Outfit station to make a costume in leveling materials, then you can dye it and see better dye effects.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
