I’ve just logged into ESO and a screen appeared asking me to accept terms and conditions but I didn’t notice anything different. Was it a glitch or has something changed?

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Does anyone actually read these? It's usually 20+ pages long and makes absolutely NO SENSE AT ALL with all the lawyer gibberish.

They mentioned it in the patch notes. I think its mostly making you agree that you read and understood the terms.

(My guess is its so no one can pull that "well, who knows what the TOS says?" The next time there's an exploit,)

    um, yeah. i do.

same as i read the small print on everything i sign up to. if you are going to agree to something at least be sure what it is you are agreeing to.

it's not fun but it's one of the things grownups have to do.

    I read patch notes too.

In this case it would have taken you 5 minutes, and I'm allowing for some really slow reading there.

I often do, but it depends on what it is. In this case I read the patch notes, realised that of course this game is affected by the same Data Protection changes that have been causing me hassle at work and I know all about it and accepted without reading the actual agreement because I know I'm fine with it.

When I first got the game I skimmed through it and I think I read one or two paragraphs in detail because they seemed like unusual policies (or oddly worded) to me.

If it's something like a 3rd party piece of software I'm being forced to install in order to run a program/game I want or get a website to function properly or whatever then I'm going to read it all in detail because I already don't trust them insisting on me installing this thing and I'm fully expecting it to include some even more sinister or unwelcome tricks.

Fortunately I deal with legalese enough at work that I'm familiar with reading it and can usually make sense of it. I even have the Habs Regs (aka The Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017) bookmarked to send to people who don't believe me...usually they decide they don't want to read it and will take my word for it instead.
