I tried all the suggested solutions. Finally downloaded a VPN. It fixed the problem on the first try.

I haven't tried a VPN, so I'm still having this problem, and no response from customer support yet. Opened a ticket 24 hours ago. I'd be happy just to know they are looking into this issue, and I'll patiently wait for it to be solved. *** happens. However no feedback on this issue beyond troubleshooting that doesn't work is getting a little frustrating.

Having the same problem and just opened a ticket. I have tried all suggested solutions on support site and forums with no luck. Really hope they sort this fast.

I've tried everything short of and in the end I deleted the game to do a clean install - and yet I get the same error message:" error 102 - download error _invalid metafile" when I try to install the game. I'm on a paid account so it's really annoying that these people are happy to take my money and yet won't let me even install the game - a game that worked perfectly before the update mind you. get your act together, Zos.

Still can't play... I guess I'm not playing ESO this weekend.. Hell, I even downloaded and installed the entire game on steam to try if it worked there (only because it's free period) but I get the exact same error... what's so annoying is that this seems to be a problem for just a handful of people, at least at the moment, but it's so persistent.. I've been sending tickets and getting replies back and forth with support and got told to send two different file logs/reports or whatever.. responded as quickly as I could both times, and I'm now waiting again...for the rest of the weekend I guess...

EDIT: tried a few more times, then I just kind of randomly tried to run "Bethesda.net_Launcher" from the folder itself (not shortcut), and somehow, magically, it worked now.. xD and I swear I'd even done that already, so I have no idea why it suddenly worked, lol
so I guess I can play now (yay), hope it fixes itself for the rest of you all soon too

Gyus what exactly VPN have you used? I tried one but without luck.

Made brand new installation, it installed, started to update and then the same

The support contacted me twice, sent them some info. Has just started the launcher (from the shortcut, without admin rights) and currently I am updating the new copy. But it is on a conventional hard drive so after it I'll try to update the SSD too.

IMO the guys from ZOS have fixed something and now it works. There is more to be fixed obviously. Update reached 96% and stopped

The saga continues. My host.developer.log file shows that there is an error in "http://live.patcher.elderscrollsonline.com/products/eso/874DCDCF-C40C-4956-92FE-E39B8DC4764E/depot/depot_226to228.solidpkg"

I tried to download it using browser, then using proxy downloaded it again. The files differ so I just changed the internet settings to use the proxy.

Now (at least for me) the problem is solved. IMO there was broken file which ZOS fixed, but the old file remains in some caches in the ISPs

Problem solved for me now as well. I did however get response from customer support who told me to try reinstall the launcher. I haven't done that though, as the game patched up correctly without issue when I tried it first. So, all working fine now.

Well, first I had error 102, then I tried to repair, but repair stopped with 8MB download remaining. I restarted my router (that was a solution suggested on the forum) and download and installation finished. But since then I habe fatal error 11. I cannot repair anything and only hit "Play" to get the crash reporter window. Now I am waiting for someone at Zenimax to read my ticket, lol.

Better just install a fresh copy and update to the latest version. Yes, it will take you a day, but IMO support will react slower, especially in the weekends.

Well, I would have done so already, but in other threads I read that re-installing did nothing to fix the issues. That made me hesitating and asking support for solutions. By now they have confirmed my ticket, but could not yet answer my questions.

50 hours since I sent my ticket regarding this problem, and still waiting on agent.

No solution have worked so far, and after 50 hours of redownloading the game, I get the same Error 102 as soon as I hit the Install button

I guess that means no pre-ordering of Summerset then.

Redownloading dont work. I tried that and got the same error. I eventually used a VPN. That fixed the problem on the first attempt.

I do not even get an error message. I decided to reinstall as well, but after some initial download (~160MB) the progress bar in the installer stops at about 95% and the installer falls asleep. Hopefully the downtime tomorrow solves the issue. Otherwise with that kind of technical BS going on I need to consider spending my money elsewhere...

I have used VPN Client for download, then it worked (AVIRA Antivir package has this SW included) - but I don't know why this worked.
