Sorcs and their summons

Why can we only summon lousy scamps, clanfears and matriarchs? If you parallel this with single TES games it would be equivalent of apprentice level of conjuration, which is a joke considering the status of Vestige in the lore. We should be able to summon high-ranking dremora, daedroths, attronachs and the like.

    Like a Storm Atronach?

On a serious note, probably just because they didn't want one class to have all these epic powerful summons and someone else to just get flappy wings.

Scamps are certainly not lousy. The matriarch that has increased damage for high health targets is also good.

As for the single player TES games there is much one can do developing a single player game that will not work in an mmorpg ans this game has been billed first and For most an MMORPG.

Incorrect. The strongest one is a Lagtronach. It kills instantly!

It does feel quite underwhelming to be using the same summon models at 50, as you were using at level 5.

The summoning would be awesome if it didn’t take 2 to 4 bar slots and didn’t have that awkward 1.5 second channel along with the artificial snare attached to it.

You are able to summon Storm Atronach (ulti), Daedroth (Maw of the Infernal set), Hunger (Defiler set) as well. Plus a lot of different types of creatures: bound armor (Bound Armor skill), Dwemer machines (Sentinel of Rkugamz and Engine Guardian sets), animated weapon (Morkuldin set) and some plantlike creature (Chokethorn set).

It's just what I remember, and what players can summon directly (NPCs can also summon another creatures, spirits and even bound weapon). Explore the game :)
    Everything is viable

I don't have any ideas about the scamp/clanfear but if the matriarch was replaced with the twilight mob from IC, that would be freaking awesome. He wouldn't need to deal top damage or anything, but teleporting around, attacking players and providing some sort of utility would be great.

Scamp/clanfear, these guys should be available from the sets, and the first summon should be something a little bit more 'tougher' I guess.

However, if spell crafting comes, pretty much everyone will be able to become a summoner, since conjuration will be in the game.
  • Sauce_Revolution
To be fair in previous TES games, yeah you could summon daedroths and dremora but only for like 20-30 seconds at a time. You couldn't even summon scamps indefinitely, so the fact that vestige can pull a storm atronach while simultaneously having a twilight and a scamp out permanently (and occasionally bringing a daedroth and hunger out if you've got the right gear) would put them above the PC in previous games.

I've always felt the in-lore reason was because magic as far as it goes for the public is still fairly new. Before the Mages guild was founded only just a couple hundred years ago, magic was mostly limited to Psijics and people wealthy and lucky enough to be chosen to be taught by them, or the rare few who learned from other means. It makes sense that something that is considered a large and powerful feat now is pretty commonplace in a thousand years from now.

I do really want to see other ability-based summons (not proc sets), but I think the Sorcerer is limited by ZOS's decision to make them entirely storm themed. The sorc toolkit involves wind and electricity. The pets are based around shock (and some generic magic dmg) - so thematically a fire-breathing daedroth wouldn't fit in, let alone the other elemental attronachs.

There could be some summons that would fit in the sorc's theme, and I especially like the idea of adding in a third morph for all class abilities in the future. That way, sorcs could finally get a true stamina-based dps pet in the form of a greatsword wielding dremora or something. Other variety could be added in as the third morphs as well.

Side note: I was very sad that Wardens weren't able to summon Frost attronachs...

Winged Twilights were actually a master level conjuration spell in TES:III Morrowind.

Not sure if the OP simply forgot that or conveniently omitted it.

Umm, how about instead of changing the matriarch (bc she's the only other pet with heals besides my clanfear), we change the twilight tormentor morph (that nobody uses) to a (smaller) Grievous Twilight, have it do physical damage, and have it scale with stamina?

Another change I'd support is to change the Charged Storm Atronach to an Air Atronach that also does physical damage, but the duration is the same.

I think it'd be funny if Sorcs first pet was a Banekin and it came with the little lightning ball ability the enemy banekin use, and it could morph into a scamp or clanfear later on. Like a sense of evolution or something.

Oh and here's all the daedra in the game in case you don't remember what certain ones look like: http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Daedra
