anyone been seeing "friends added to list" when you log?

when i log launcher, and saw "friend been added to your list", i wonder how they do that? even i am away or sleeping, i closed all launcher.

what going on?

was that from Steam vault launcher?
i checked all "friend list" and didnt find any new "buddies" or added.
