Old Player Thread-Another Year Gone

I finished up a few pledges tonight and found one of my beta friends had logged into the game for the first time since craglorn first launched. We talked about the game and how things were going irl and it seriously depressed me with a strong hit of nostalgia. I was hoping we could get a new thread going to commemorate the new year for ESO and the direction it's headed.

If anyone still remembers having less than 5k health and limited recovery, it'd be great to see some old screenshots and videos!

I didn't play when there was a subscription for everyone, but I did start shortly after it became buy to pay. I distinctly remember being able to play with my friends as long as they were the same alliance and within one or two levels of me. if they weren't that, forget it.

Whether or not you think ESO should institute mandatory subscription, they've made a lot of positive changes to the game from those days to better meet some of their advertising.

Hats and atronoch mounts represent most of what is wrong with the game, and it's not getting better over time.

I wouldn’t say that it is the cosmetics which are driving this game down. I’d say it is: The actions (and lack of) from the combat team, the disregard for proper “balance”, the rampant bots, the myriad of people who are gold buying and selling, the people selling their accounts, the people buying and selling trial clears, the growing elitism and toxicity, and lack of extremely harsh punishment(s) toward exploiters. If all of those things I listed were truly looked at, then this game would be in a much better place. It’s future would also look much brighter, and more positive overall. That I’m certain of.

Just to keep with the nostalgia trip, (disclaimer: been playing since beta.)

I remember when finding Mittens Q Deathclaw was a quest in Ebonheart.

I remember the old crafting system when jewelry was part of it, and you mined precious metals and gems from what later became rune nodes. I remember the second version of provisioning, were each alliance had recipes and moonsuger was an ingredient.

I remember about 4 or 5 versons of the wailing prison. When it used be to the Argonian who broke you out. Being able to choose any weapon type at the start, to only a great sword to one of three weapons. I remember the the extra path between the fight tutorial and the sentinel area. I remember fighting a harvester at the end, without orbs mechanic.

I remember when you could loot the bank containers without fear of guards. Also when food on tables and weapon racks were not interactable.

I remember challenging myself versus named enemies in old Craglorn.

I remember 10 Cyrodiil campaigns, all 90days, and no non vet, and yet still only two/two and a half of them being active.

I remember the area outside Davon's Watch being result of unleashing a Brother of Strife on the DC army and not some Chimer ghost flair up.

I remember having individual horse training, only 50 slots to upgrade, different starting bonuses for some mounts, and an alliance sadle blanket visual upgrade when you maxed a horse.

I remember guildies asking for help in vets zones because it was empty.

I like the new model, its better even. Cosmetics and constant DLC, but for a price. No time limit on content you own.

But putting warden, and imperial behind paywalls is silly. And should be removed.

Well I've come along after One Tamriel.
I see a lot of good, minor game play improvements that go unmentioned. I also see a lot of negative changes, some of which are also unmentioned. Some of those are petty and just destroy the intent of everything else. I'm talking about issues that make tasks just that little bit longer to achieve. Take care of the seconds; and the subscription renewals will take care of themselves.

Responding to the spirit of Firor's words:
Customer support is about fixing problems; not just acknowledging them and closing the ticket 3 or 4 days later. We all know that there are some serious, structural flaws that are ruining the game for a portion of players. This is no feedback on the 'Long loading screen' discussion. One that has 85 000 views or thereabouts. One that was started 9 MONTHS after the initial problems were reported in January 2017.

100 percent access to the game. Except for Chapters. Something new and made up to get around whatever legalese concerns them. The fact that they HAD to do this suggests that the legal issue is a valid one. They thought about it.

I continue to play. I don't subscribe.
I don't buy crates anymore. I won't get any new content, but, I'm not exactly finished with the old content yet.

EDIT; to add:
I originally bought the game outright and got the 4 DLC bundle. I bought subscription after to get the benefits of that, which when boiled down, mainly translates into 'time-saving'.

I also bought the 'limited release' Sabre Cat - 3 days only in which to purchase and 4000 crowns - its now a *** crate drop.
I bought the IMPERIAL UPGRADE. UPGRADE. It got nerfed into the *** that is the clothing bench. A big thank you and go *** yourselves to all the players that wanted coloured weapons to match their outfits.
