Ancient orc motif drop location?

I mean it's common knowledge that they drop from the public dungeon bosses, but the outfitting station says wrothgar delve bosses... Was this changed or is it an oversight on ZOS' part?

I did the public dungeons in wrothgar so often, till now I have 4 chapters....................

I think you will find its from the daily quests rather than a direct drop.

The daily quests reward Malacath (WB quests) and Trinimac (delve quests) motifs, not Ancient Orc.

And as far as I know, Ancient Orc only drops in the Wrothgar public dungeons. I have only ever found 2 of them at all and only there. So I would also guess it's a tooltip error.

They should only drop from public dungeon mobs as far as im aware. Half of the chapters in old orsinium and the other half in the dwemer ruin whose spelling i will not even attempt. If they do drop from normal delve bosses it was likely added fairlly recently so checking the orsinium dlc section of the last 3 or 4 major patches could provide the answers

I find them fairly often in Old Orsinium when I go there to farm Rubedo Leather from the outer circuit.

Speaking of which, I need to go back there tonight to level a few skill lines.

Any delve boss has a chance to drop an Ancient Orc motif chapter. Regular delve bosses have an extremely rare change, while public delve bosses have a rare change. Also, all trash mob in public delves have a very rare chance of dropping a chapter.

In old Orsinium ... some ancient orc motif pages dropped from bosses, others I found in urns (and I checked every urn I came across), and I believe I found a page or two in treasure chests (intermediate level or higher). I was there specifically to farm that motif and spent 2-3 hours per day and did this 3-4 days per week. It took me about a month to get everything.

I was farming these just a few days ago and was having great success (6+ per day) but now, I can't get a single one. Is this just bad luck or did something change these last couple of days?

The prices for the Old Orsinium pages says that the drop rate there is higher than the drop rate in Rkindaleft. The prices for the pieces that drop there are literally out of sight > 80K plus. I am short 4 of those motif pages: Helmet, Legs, Shoulders, Shields. Spent several hours and got a Staves page off of Wandering Illia. Have been thru the bosses 4 times now without another Ancient Orc drop. This points to the fact that the pages from Rkindaleft are either not available or very expensive when they are for sale. If you have the pages I am short, feel free to mail them to me... Grin

1. Old Orsinium is used as a "grind spot" by some still. Also drops a couple nice leads, so people are in there more.

2. Wait for the anniversary event that starts in like 2-3 weeks. Motifs will drop like candy and you'll see them all over the place in guild traders.

I can't speak for Rkindaleft in particular, but when I was farming specific pages in Old Orsinium that I needed for master writs they could drop from any MOB, not just the bosses. Kill and loot everything, not just the bosses.

I have gotten ancient motif pages from leads using antiquities. I have ancient elf shields (AD), and ancient orc helms (DC). It seems the leads are quite rare, but can drop in any of the associated faction locations.

I believe all of the motif pages from antiquity leads are Ancestral, not Ancient.

They only drop from Old Orsinium and Rkindaleft. Specific bosses drop a specific page, so in order to get them all by yourself you'd have to farm both dungeons.

Yeah, I kept getting those two types confused at first when Antiquities came out. It took a while for me to realize that they're totally different. It's unfortunate ZOS chose a new motif name that bears a resemblance to an existing motif name.
