Lost items from refining at crafting tables.

Around 10:45 pm eastern time on Tuesday, March 6, I went to do my daily crafting writs on my character in Rawl’kha (on the PC-NA megaserver.) I had a full inventory so deconstructed a few items to make room, (about 10-15 Morihaus, Flanking, and Sithis set items mostly as he’d just been enjoying time in Gold Coast doing the daily quests there.) He also refined a stack of Raw Ancestor Silk (about 90 units), 10 units of Rawhide Scraps and some Rubedo Hide Scraps (again about 100 units – I got a Dreugh Wax from this stack - Yay!)



When I then tried to do my writs, I found I didn’t have any rubedite ores or ancestor silk. After closer inspection, every type of item that I received from deconstructing/refining is now completely gone, along with all that was already in my craft bag from ESO+. That includes all Dwarven Oil, Honing Stones, Pitch, Turpen, Hemming, Elegant Lining, Embroidery, and Dreugh Wax. All of those I had hundreds of. Also completely gone was nearly every type of trait stone and all of my moonstone (I guess I lucked out and didn’t get any other type of style stones). I’d guess I had several hundred to a thousand or more of each of those.



Any type of item that was generated from deconning and refining in that session combined with what I had in my craft bag and has completely disappeared. I have checked my craft bag multiple times, my inventory, bank space and local vendors, though I know I didn’t sell or bank the items, as I never left the crafting table area after deconning and then attempting to craft the daily writs. I've relogged and removed all add-ons to no avail.

    Wow, that is the worst loss of resources about which I have heard or have read since TESO was in Beta!!

    Did you use the in-game Ask for Help feature to report the events that you've described? If so, then Customer Support should respond relatively quickly with an e-mail message to the address for your account.

    If you use the Feedback feature (/bug), then ZOS won't contact you unless they need to ask questions about your report in order to find and fix the flaw in the software which is causing the problem.

    That is, if there is a flaw in the game software. It is not impossible that an add-on is informing the game Host that it has deleted items from inventory, presumably because the player used a feature of the add-on to do that. Did you install any new add-ons or updates to existing ones since the session you most recently played before you logged-in to play again?

    When a character loses materials or currency, the first thing to do is Quit the game completely. Run Launcher and open the Game Options menu, then select Repair Files. That will verify the integrity of the game installation and correct any corruption that has occurred.

    If the missing items are not restored after you log-in to the game and select a character to play, then disable all add-ons, reload the UI, and check whether the problem is still evident with the primitive, minimal, laughingstock UI that ZOS has yet to materially improve, and probably never will. (Which is why we run add-ons, right?).

    If the problem remains with add-ons disabled, then Ask for Help. Else, find which add-on is causing the problem, if you can, but you might still need to Ask for Help to recover your missing resources once you find it.

    No new addons had been installed, and I don't have any that auto-delete anything. I'd been having the de-sync issues that lots of people have been having for two weeks, but I had been on for a good twenty to thirty minutes with no issues before the incident, and it wasn't particularly laggy at the time.

    The first thing I did was re-log and check the craft bag inventory, then logged another character and checked again. Then completely quit the game and launcher and restarted, then did that again and completely removed the Add-on folder so was running with the base game UI. No luck on any of it. I hadn't tried the repair files option, so thanks for that. Didn't fix the problem, but was worth a shot.

    I'm just very thankful that I didn't get (un-)lucky and get a Grain Solvent, Tempering Alloy, or Mastic/Rosin and have them get wiped also. That'd push the value losses well into the millions. Still hesitant to try my hand at refining any ore or wood at the moment; for fear of a repeat occurrence. I'll just stick to purchasing anything I need for crafting at guild traders for the time being until it gets sorted.

    I did get an canned email response within minutes from the in-game 'lost item' report, and another more personal email this morning saying it was being passed to another team for investigation. Kudos to Support for timeliness on that front at least.
